Just posted my first #nostr NIPs proposal. Adding support for mute list expiration for items. If adopted by clients, this would allow you to mute something for a specific period of time (as opposed to the current behavior of indefinitely). Implementation already in progress for #Damus (stay tuned). https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/987
And just like that, the rate of inflation for #Bitcoin was just cut in half. #BitcoinHalving
What is your favorite #nostr client, and why?
That #ForAllMankind finale was amazing (as always). Really hoping we get a season 5.
So the latest #nostr #spam is a "dm-reporter" account. Do people really have nothing better to do than build these spam bots?
The collaborative nature of building on top of each other on #nostr is incredible. It's amazing to see how implementing one (relatively) simple NIP into @npub18m7…q955 unlocks a whole new world of ways for this platform to thrive.
@npub1nzr…36v5 now supports direct messages! Message the bot and ask it questions and it will reply with some useful information. This feature is in alpha, and still in active development. But wanted to ship it to get feedback.
On a more technical note, NIP-17 I couldn't get to work at all with it (only supports NIP-04). Asked in the #nostr telegram and didn't get any replies. If anyone wants to take a look and help debug, let me know. But I think #nostr is on track to fail miserably if developers can't even figure out how to use non-deprecated standards after spending days on it.
So happy that #Apple renewed For All Mankind for season 5 on Apple TV+! AND announced a spinoff show called 'Star City' today. #ForAllMankind
In what universe is @npub1sg6…f63m living in?!?! #Twitter or #X is NOT freedom tech. Maybe it used to be. But completely shutting down the API lost any sense of “freedom” it had.
Freedom is being able to use (or build) the client you want. Freedom is allowing you to view posts WITHOUT creating an account.
If Craig Wright truly is Satoshi, why doesn't he actually prove it? Shouldn't it be incredibly easy to sign & submit a transaction from one of the first wallets? What is even his reasoning for not providing concrete proof or evidence? #bitcoin
Saw a #Tesla #Cybertruck for the first time in person today. If you're wondering if it's as ugly in person as it is in the photos: it is.
Sometimes making the wrong decision is better than making no decision.
Most of the time associated types for enum cases in #Swift are not the right tool for the job.
Why doesn't the #Apple #Notes app support #markdown?
Interoperability of social media protocols is great for all. Having more users and platforms you can interact with benefits us all. Huge shoutout to the developers building bridges and other interoperability systems.
For #nostr #developers how do you decide which relay URL to use? I have a system that transmits notes to multiple relays, but for things like reposts (NIP-18) struggling to decide how to determine which relay URL to use for that.
Obviously choosing an unreliable relay or a relay that eventually goes offline isn't a good practice. And it doesn't look like there is a way to define multiple relay URLs.
What do you all do for this?
After upgrading to #iOS 17.3 my #iPhone froze after entering my passcode on first boot. After a little bit it went into a recovery screen and asked me to enter my passcode twice. Then launched an "Attempting Data Recovery" screen for a while.
Luckily everything (as far as I can tell) seems to be working, but still scary regardless.
I have backups and everything, but restoring from backup is always a stressful hassle.
Well that sucks... #Apple Developer app on Apple TV keeps crashing when trying to load Platform State of the Union stream. #WWDC #WWDC24
Well that is fun. #Cloudflare DNS seems to be extremely unstable right now. Ping to 1.1.1.1 fails for a bit then succeeds for a bit before failing again. Can ping other IPs just fine, and observed from 2 different internet connections.
Can you seriously not use a #SwiftUI ForEach with a Set?!?! You truly have to convert your Set to an Array? Like why??? #iOSDev #Swift
Does #NDK support NIP-17? Trying to send an encrypted direct message to a user, but not seeing any documentation for it. #nostr #asknostr
What is the best web client for #nostr? #asknostr
So this is what people thought #Y2K was going to be like. #CrowdStrike #Outage #IT
@npub1nzr…36v5 on #nostr now supports radar images for certain types of delays! This took a lot of engineering effort throughout the entire stack to get working. #Mastodon & #Bluesky bots had this feature for a while, but due to the decentralized nature of #nostr this was more difficult than just uploading an image to a central server.

TLDR sound like it needs ~$300M to convert to modern useful commercial space, but also that commercial RE is having a meltdown post COVID due to WFH etc.
Yes - but I don't see it happening until the US empire has fallen much further.
I recently noticed that I'm bi-lingual in metric/empirial temperature measurement. Internal chicken temps I remeber in F, and outdoor temps in C. ¯\_😀_/¯

I tapered - half-caf for awhile, then switched to herbal tea. I never did just decaf coffee though - taste was too bad. I've been off caffeine now for about about a year. My biggest problem is that it's awkward at social gatherings, so I usually have herbal tea in those cases. I can't say how long it took to be back to baseline because I tapered, but my sleep has improved over the last 12 months for sure.
I feel less stress after quiting, but hard to know if it's the coffee or other factors. Good luck on your coffee free journey!
The Swedish central bank (the Riksbank) must ask parliment for funding if their balance sheet goes more than 40B kronor negative. They are currently 18B kronor in the hole. This recent Swedish law related to funding the Riksbank was alledgedly passed to ensure the central bank's independence...

In the US the Fed is allowed to count their negative balance as an *asset* because they can use it to offset profits they would theoretically be required to pay the US Treasury in the future. ht @npub1a2c…w83a
https://www.lynalden.com/broke-federal-reserve/
In March the tax payers in Sweden will get a request for the equivalent of $7B to fund the Riksbank. This may be a a hard sell when inflation is running hot, interest rates are high, home prices are down and the economy is generally faultering. Keep in mind also that the government will need to issue bonds to pay to recapitalize the Riksbank at a time when the Swedish Krona is at an all time low. Coincidentally, a few weeks ago the Riksbank pledge to spend up to $8B USD in reserves to prop up the Krona by March.

These two programs taken together do not install a feeling of bank independence to my mind. Has anyone seen this discussed elsewhere? I would love to read more analysis about how these moves by the Riksbank will interact. Any thoughts on this @npub1sv4…srw4 ?
hey @npub1m0y…n7u6 there's a bug in the installer right now, apologies. it's the part that is deploying the app deploy.sh, is not working. I am going to try to fix this today. To coax it into working, you can run the deploy steps manually like so:
machinectl login relaycreator (login as root/creator).
cd /app
pnpm install
npx prisma migrate deploy
npx prisma generate
pnpm install
pnpm run build
systemctl restart app
It's hard to believe EU citizens want their government working on this (or anti-crypto legislation). So who *is* pushing it? and why?
RE: privacy, "Let a thousand nodes bloom." Bitcoin and Lightning were *designed* for this fight, centralized implementations have been an efficient way to popularize and bootstrap the network, but expect something like the transition from Napster to Bittorrent going forward.
I've added local relay to lume just with 3 lines of code, rust-nostr is pure magic. Thanks @npub1drv…seet

nah, I got rid of em and not lookin' back :) pure outbox ⚡ if that's the reason, then I will go figure out why nostrudel doesn't get a response (it does list more DVMs). Now that I've looked at noogle I realize there are a TON of dvms, and finding one that's actually online is just a sort through the announcement age? 🤔
"My *deflation* target is the rate of technological progress: 2% minimum"
I think Saylor's point is a bit more nuanced then that.
The TLDR I got out of his interview with Livera was that he does not think we should make protocol upgrades that create controversy among stakeholders (miners) or which might antagonize governments (currency monopoly). This makes sense in the context of someone who simply wants their stack to increase in value and who believes his stack will not be threatened by the state.
The more I come to understand his position the more sympathetic I become, and it seems likely his views will be shared by a growing number of normy tradfi investors as their involvement increases.
I think he's taking a stance that in 2017 people would have applauded: don't change Bitcoin to make your VC funded buisness plan viable.
That said, I think he does not understand Bitcoin at a technical level very well or share the cyberpunk's opposition to state control and surveillance of money.
If Saylor is going to be the official Bitcoin villian for 2024, he's at least a much more nuanced and interesting version than Jihan Wu, Ver or Faketoshi.
Some big news for taprooty PSBTs!

Hi All,
I've written up a BIP draft for MuSig2 PSBT fields. It can be viewed at
https://github.com/achow101/bips/blob/musig2-psbt/bip-musig2-psbt.mediawiki.
This is based on this gist from Sanket:
https://gist.github.com/sanket1729/4b525c6049f4d9e034d27368c49f28a6.
There are a few notable differences:
- The participant pubkeys field is keyed by only the aggregate xonly key
- Participant pubkeys are compressed pubkeys rather than xonly.

In recent discussions around proposed soft-forks I am most attracted to the goal of creating a way to share ownership of a UTXO. This was one of the things that APO would enable via multiparty channels (aka channel factories), but with caveats. Multiparty channels are rarely discussed as the primary feature of APO because there are tremendous technical hurdles that need to be solved to scale up multiparty channels. Instead APO work has focused on the more near term advantage of simplifed and safer lightning channels. Any proposal that claims to enable shared UTXO ownership among large groups has significant details to discuss and problems to solve. I hope this current wave of soft-fork discussions will lead to a technical consensus around a proposal that can enable shared UTXO ownership. We're not there yet though.
Nope, Snort uses very little data now because everything is cached
