A better target for a FOIA request imo would be the Dutch Central Bank. I would be curious to know it they are involved with marketing Alex's material to the various media outlets that published it.
In other words, I'm not at all worried about a media conspiracy to attack Bitcoin, but I think a central bank coordinated smear campaign is at least plausible. But he might just be good at marketing.

I find the article a bit alarmist and pedantic. I don't think it would convince anyone outside our filter bubble, and might even backfire.
Most BBC readers wouldn't understand the distinction between transaction and payment. Using FOIA seems complete overkill.
I don't know why Forbes took it down, that's bad journalistic practice: they can put a notice at the top if they feel there's a serious issue with it. I very much doubt there's anything to it, e.g. I don't think the BBC threatened to sue them. But who knows.
That said, De Vries articles do need debunking, but that should focus on the bigger picture. E.g
1. the fact that it's utterly ridiculous to use water consumption as a metric without any consideration of the local context. Is the miner draining an aquifer that millions of people depend on for drinking water? Or using a giant river?
2. the fact that both "per transaction" and "per payment" are dubious metrics when applied to mining. The energy and water are used to secure the network, that includes but also value at rest.
The water use per transaction can be reduced to a single molecule by a bunch of lightning nodes running on AWS making trillions of transactions in a circle.

Random thought: perhaps in the longer run you could write a Forgejo patch (hopefully accepted by them) that pulls in the issues and pull requests (and release tags) from Nostr.
Rorgejo can then do the heavy lifting of e.g. nicely rendering code, blame, search, etc. That doesn't need to be decentralized, since multiple people can host one and point to the same nostr repo.

That didn't seem to work.
Although git init did suggest the correct (shorter) list:
✔ relays · wss://nostr.sprovoost.nl wss://nos.lol wss://nostr.1sat.org wss://nostr.wine wss://nostr.mom wss://relay.nostr.band wss://eden.nostr.land wss://nostr.bitcoiner.social wss://relay.damus.io
But at the end of that command it still pushed to the old relays. And a subsequent git pull also pulled from the old relays.

The clone URL is unauthenticated https. However when you try to push to that URL it won't fail immediately, it will try to authenticate. I then abort that, which probable ends the script.

I also suspect that:
1. It will take less money and effort to kill this law than to free even one developer who intentionally breaks it.
2. It's not that hard to kill this law, just difficult to figure out who to lobby and how.
#ChatControl keeps coming back, but a tiny group of people has been able to push it away several times now. Expand that group a bit and perhaps it can he crushed once and for all.
Remember how EU lawmakers absolutely panicked and backed dawn when a single tractor showed up in Brussel? They're not used to serious opposition, very comfortable working from obscurity, hidden being a bureaucratic maze that nobody (except big corporations of course) bothers to navigate.

What I care about, and the petition does mention this, is privacy for everyone and protection from mass surveillance. I don't care about children, they are the responsibility of their parents. For The Netherlands I'm unsure. Usually it's Minister of Justice who pushes for this crap. The previous one, Yeşilgöz, actually liked it. She ignored a motion from Parliament that opposed it. That's probably why The Netherlands is now listed as neutral.
The current Minister is Van Weel, from the same political party.
The current cabinet in general is not known for its love of privacy, with a former spy boss as prime minister. Or rule of law for that matter... So I'm a bit cynical.
Our best bet might be to contact some NSC folks to raise this issue, e.g. Teun Struyckenz is "staatssecretaris voor Rechtsbescherming". ("voor" means they're not in charge of anyone, so I guess they have free time?)

With half of Portugal joining, but also because there's plenty of Dutch people here, it would be nice to introduce a language tag.
On the author side, clients should follow the keyboard language setting* and display a little flag in the corner which the user can adjust** if needed.
On the reader side, clients should let users choose between ignoring specific languages***, auto translating or showing a translate button.
Typically when I write in Dutch it's because the context is local and safe to ignore by the rest of the world.
* = or "AI" if you're into that
** = that's about the max effort I'm going to put in signaling the correct language
*** = maybe show a little flag to unfold the message - especially because the tag might be wrong, e.g. I don't always toggle the keyboard

I don't know either. My guess is that's for very laze search mechanism. It's especially useful for geohash, so you can look for other pictures in the same small / wide area.

I noticed that the quoted message from my "instagram" post doesn't show up in some places, e.g. Primal doesn't see it yet.
I think that's because the quoted post lives on my obscure relay and the message doesn't provide a relay hint.
This seems like a good use for e tags (NIP-10).
It also has two identical p tags.
@npub1xts…kk5s IIRC I posted this from Damus, which blasts the original message along when posting to relays. But I think it should also add an e-tag.
My wild guess is that it didn't post to the Primal relay, so someone searching that relay for my profile posts would find only the quote, and won't know where to find the original.
