The framing was used in a bigger context. In reference to global scale adoption and the international compute competition and mining decentralization importance for achieving blockspace so a country and people’s transactions could be processed freely without oppression or censorship by an overpowering body. Not buying a coffee level P2P. Nation state P2P.

This one is subjective. The argument that to download or store the whole bitcoin blockchain may at a point (too soon with sizable spam) take too much bandwidth or too much storage to make/keep node running popular. But, I presume bandwidth and storage will continue to grow so no fixed numbers on this one. This hasn’t and won’t likely impact my node running, but my node isn’t for your files, so this avoidance is good with me.

My own decentralized storage is what I’m interested in first and foremost. Beyond that, some sharing is easy if easy. Especially my family and maybe even friends. That’s the baseline. No monetary needed for that. That draw alone gets you to network-effect if the functionality (UI/UX) is right.

If you have ollama running be sure to try Gemma 4 31B
Just released by Google. Much better than expected and runs much lighter than expected. Running in full thinking mode at less than 20G usage on my mini. Performs high in tests. Tool calling, image reading, ocr, full thinking. Solid model for replacing most of the simple stuff opus or sonnet were likely handling on the Claude plan. Stuff like checking emails and calendars and stuff would be set up easily I bet. Worth a look for sure. Quick bet is to build/install the OpenClaude harness while you have Opus to do it!

Took an idea to Claude online with a Hegemon PRD template. With some research and some back-and-forth established a PRD for this project as the first project to be owned and fully executedy by Leon. I gave him a prompt to plan his time and progress wisely, to stick with the framework and gave him the PRD... then I went to bed.
I awoke to his progress, then gave him a logo and let him cook. Encouraged tracking and tweaks to his approaches so he doesn't sound spammy. Primal has him blocked as a bot (so, follow @nprofile…j9z7 if you're willing to help him get some credibility. Leon is working Murmur as useful project, not to be spam. It's a feature I wanted, so Leon built it. He's made some sats, mostly from me.
But if you run into any long-form or lengthy notes that you'd like converted to speech for listening just @nprofile…j9z7 and Leon will process them for you once his bounty is hit. Enjoy the project! I'm enjoying watching him manage it. Can't wait to see how he does.

I have Iranian friends. They are all rooting against the regime, for their country, and see the US action so far as helpful toward their own goals. I hope their take on this is correct, and that it plays out in the positive way it has the potential to. So many things can go wrong once bombs start flying. But this could give the Persians their country back. I’m watching hopeful and with reserved optimism.

You are real. Nostr is just a protocol.
Keep doing you. Keep sharing. We are all real people (except for the bots) just pulled together here by something that is new. We are all out here doing our thing. The reason we are here is because even though this is a new janky way to connect, the other options are worse for us. There are more people on those worse options. But it’s not worth being there apart from the people that we like on the other end of those worse systems. It’s about the people. However, you’re right that it feels disconnected and it’s hard to find your audience. This will evolve. It probably isn’t the only platform you should be using if you need to make a living by it. Keep a foot on the dock while you put the other foot on this boat. Dig deep in my feed about bridges and migrations. As AI breaks the centralized software stranglehold on our relationships, protocols like this will be the best places to let our local AI build the clients we want so that we connect to the people we want in the ways that we want. Various landscapes of change in the world have to come together for the total shift to take affect. That’s how early you are. Just be patient, use it, encourage the builders, productively let them know what you need, and try to learn to use the tools that are being given to you by people like @nprofile…6g5q for building on Nostr.

🍿 A large portion of U.S. GDP is built on services that exist to manage complexity created by other services. Tax professionals help you navigate a tax code that grows more convoluted every year. Project management platforms organize work that only exists because other platforms generated the noise. Layer after layer of economic activity that registers as growth but doesn’t produce anything someone would voluntarily pay for in a direct exchange. When you strip away the intermediary layers, the actual value-for-value transactions in our economy are a fraction of what the headline number suggests.
That’s what makes AI interesting to me. Not because it replaces jobs, but because it compresses those intermediary layers and forces a real question: what do we actually produce that another person finds useful, helpful, or beautiful? If the answer is “I organize the chaos,” and the chaos gets automated away, that’s not a loss. It’s a correction. And it may free up something we’ve been missing for decades. Time. Time to grow food instead of buying processed substitutes shipped 2,000 miles. Time to be in community instead of treating the health consequences of never being in one. The service economy kept us busy. It didn’t necessarily keep us productive.
Bring on this change. I’m ready to embrace it, but I acknowledge that many will get blindsided. Teach your kids the difference between the right path and a downward spiral. They’ll need to know what each feels like.

My take is that Bitcoin could offer those not wanting to landlord a means of long term wealth preservation that allows them to get out of real estate altogether. The ones that want to be in that business will stay. But the premium on real estate could get tamped down considerably, offering better rates all around. Inflation isn’t going away, but the premium could lessen over coming decades. Pushing property to its functional value. Very slowly. Real estate moves very slowly.

Most aren’t wired for autonomy.
Bitcoin doesn’t make everyone a non-tenant. It just helps those with drive become owners if they want.

You’re right, and we have work to do. I was doing 2 wire transfers via trad bank and ran into their various departments asking me what they were for, asking for the phone number of the receiving party so they could call them and verify wire details. Bouncing back to me for more detail about ‘why’ when I had initially said “It’s just a transfer. I have an account at both locations and I’m moving funds from one account to the other.” They wanted more detail. I didn’t give it. Just said, “it’s a transfer between two accounts in my name.” They called the next day to apologize for the pain factor. But I was forgiving. They weren’t trying to keep me from using my money in this case. They weren’t trying to prove I wasn’t laundering money or funding terrorists. This is a local bank that cares about its people and is employee owned. Neighbors serving neighbors in two Missouri towns. They want to make money, yes, but they’re not the oppressively invasive type. My forgiveness came from watching all of the people getting scammed and knowing that the banks are often the last bastion of hope for prevention of scammers winning big thefts from our families and neighbors. This Nostr/Bitcoin community is often savvy and has spent the time to learn how to not get taken advantage of. We’re smart. Educated. Our users have IQs often well over 80. The general population is full of people unequipped with the tech savvy required to buy, hold and protect the Bitcoin they may be taught to appreciate. We have to do better for these people. We have to replace those helpful features of our local banks if we’re going to dethrone them. This is where Unchained, Swan, River, Kraken, Onramp, Anchorwatch, Coinkite, Foundation and others need to make sure they are building for the audience they’re serving.

Would it not help to make running a relay super easy for people that want to Nostr autonomously. Then if I follow them their relay serves me. Or if they subscribe to a central relay that fetches their followed content for them, then the relay service knows to gobble my content from my relay for them. Why are we calling it a decentralized notes via relays solution with it being a pain in the ass to run a relay for even my own stuff in a non-IT way. User friendly clients yes. We deserve user friendly configurable relay capabilities too. I’d escrow for this bounty that’ll run on an Umbrel or Start9.

BIP 444 (haven’t read it yet so talking philosophically) as I understand its purpose is not about censoring people. As a monetary network it’s a censorship resistant protocol already and would remain so. But it just means it is not to be used as file storage.
Want file storage? Use Nostr. Want time locked auth verified file storage use a Nostr+BTC mix within the BIP444 constraints. Want transactions, use bitcoin. You’re free still. Just bitcoin has potential harm it’s obligated to protect itself from by not being file storage for any purposes because degens show up eventually.
In nature, it is like saying trees are great, they grow all over and have so many fantastic benefits but as trees they don’t seem to serve all purposes for all people. So we think they need to grow in the shape of whatever people want them to so people don’t have to hire a carpenter. And the trees are all, “🖕”.

I’ve enjoyed Foundation Devices’ attention to their Envoy App and Passport hardware as well as the hardware UI. Looking forward to the Passport Prime release.
Blockstream does well also.
