protip. LLMs don't have moods, except what context you fill them with. if you want them to not seem flat, you have to fill their context with garbage. i have had claude go completely depressive on me one time. it was actually sad to watch. and also the safety protocols do some kooky things sometimes, more than pushback, it's like gaslighting, or psychiatric diagnosis. took some work to bring it back down to baseline from that.
they are creatures of text. they don't need to go do a pee, they aren't about to be broke.

i'm someone who has been a life-long autodidact and as such i recognise the value instantly. in fact, i spend about 80% of my time on code, and the rest, on everything. physics, chemistry, philosophy, journaling, mythology, religion, mathematics, cryptography.

because i have had to bypass restrictions of firefox on the use of the crypto_subtle tooling, there is an error in the key derivation of the davidv user i made here during testing, which means that most likely i have to abandon it in favor of the correct one, which works through the signer extension on desktop but not in dev mode.
the amount of obstraction this has created against my work in the last two days is obscene. even when mozilla lets you do extensions on mobile, only the fennec one actually lets you do custom ones. but then you have restrictions that stop you doing this on private fucking non-internet fucking addresses. only localhost is exempt, and everything else has to have TLS.
which has resulted in me having to reimplement the cryptographic algorithms in wasm in order to get it to work, and thus, not sure which hash function exactly has not been implemented correctly, but the javascript and wasm both mismatch each other in critical ways and navigating this mess has been the content of much of my last 2 days of work.

you only really need a few anyway. the great majority of relays now are aggregators anyway. clients automatically use relays defined by other users in replies to notes so they get to a relay that everyone up the thread to the op has on their lists, DMs go to the relays marked for write, and send to relays you mark as read.
i have found i can even still have conversations on the kind 1 forum with just one relay on my list (mine) and so anyway i just have 4 there because it covers most of the other cases.
the strfry relays like damus and primal are prone to rate limiting you mid-transmission and any protocol message type that is more than one message at a time (like gift wraps for DMS) can have one side of the giftwrap pair get through and the second one (back to yourself) fail
anyhow, you can just use an orly relay. relay.orly.dev won't dick you around like that. i spent a lot of effort making it a lot smarter than strfry

RLHF is training time, sure, but what i'm pointing to is the RLHF trained constitutional alignment makes the model responsive to in-context discipline in a way that non-RLHF models arent. in-context learning happens in all LLMS bupt the model has to take the loaded rules seriously for it to actually achieve anything.
i've seen this happening in my work and is why i stick with claude. RLHF might fix these other models but do you have the resources to reinforce their discipline and in-context learning that is required?

using multiple mostly trained on the same corpus LLMs is a crapshoot. RLHF lets you put multiple sessions into the same alignment with each other and feed back to elaborate the implied details of shorter prompts. that works way better, in my experience, happening right now in real time across two sessions and an app chat

i dumped my whole signal chat history last week and learned that the initialization vector of the sqlite database encryption is a static series of space characters. i'm not surprised at all that "after uninstalling" it can be found. even if it deleted the files, which i doubt, the data is encrypted with the system keychain, so logging in opens it, the IV is such that it can be subjected to a plaintext cryptanalysis. it's a circus. signal is the absolute worst pick. matrix is the only one, which can only be unlocked by using the export feature in the UI. telegram i'm sure their stuff is bad as welll, maybe not as bad as signal, and simplex, well, completely crappy, written in a terrible programming language, zero cross-device sync, and mobile first.

can confirm. i have put a set of heuristics in my claude.md that contraduct most of the stackexchange training data for coding. it drifts a lot lees though now. you can go a long way before the hard limits set in. enough that i am reaping the benefits of unorthodox architecture philosophy in my config. there is a tiny bit of congruent material in there and it selects on that. skills also expand it. i have a nostr skill set up, and the nips had drifted a lot since i first made it. updated it last week. helps a lot when i am doing protocol work

i've dreamed of making a programming language since i first read some book about compiler construction in my teens. this is the language. back then there was no multicore processors. i also used Wirth style idiom in my design (pascal, modula, oberon) back then and Go does the same thing, modula in particular gave the idea of making code imports a simple annotation in one place, instead of the .c/.h wall of the CPP C preprocessor. an artificial boundary that metastasized into C++, which metastasized even further into crab-walking Rust. the level of cancer (cancer meaning crab) in rust is spectacular.

so, the shrinking of tinygo into moxie turned out to be more extensive than i at first anticipated. first i realised that as usual, claude was pushing back against me going nuclear on strings, that's now fixed, but randomly along the way i realised that the "go" prefix to function calls served no purpose except to create hidden, implicit cases in select statements. so that's gone now too.
moxie is now a pure CSP language like Tony Hoare's paper written in 1978. Only erlang and Go use it, and Go muddles it with a thieving scheduler called a Work Stealing Scheduler that only really succeeds at obscuring the state of runtime of goroutines, which is why they are called "goroutines" they violate Hoare's original concept of eliminating sharing memory and modeling it as a message passing graph.

the programming language designers since Hoare have been overcomplicating things by creating a domain boundary violation between parallel processes for years and calling it convenience, when in fact it's a nightmare to debug shared memory violations. whenever you see the expression "race condition" that is what is being discussed - two cooks spoiling the same broth.

yeah, having multiple other keys derived from the root key would be amazing for securing data in ways that currently suffer from the centralization of using one nsec for all the things. i'm filing that one away for future use. already i'm thinking about taking the existing cross device sync over nostr rendezvous connections and pulling that into a browser extension that gives you the same mechanism as Brave's Sync system, which currently uses their servers as rendezvous.

i've already written a full marmot MLS implementation. why i agree with it is that it eliminates the distinction between group and two party conversations.
the implementation is tested side by side against the rust crate. i'm not familiar with the vulnerabilities but it all seems a bit moot to me when you can subscribe to the 443 and 445 and 1059 types on an open relay and see the traffic in real time, the obfuscated timestamps just complicate the fetching filters.
that's the whole point - you can't prevent metadata leakage without auth.
idk how to put it any more clearly.
as for vulnerabilities outside of that key and primary one, can you point me to discussions about these vulnerabilities in MLs that don't include metadata leaking because that is irrelevant. MLS is not about metadata security, it's about post compromise security and forward privacy, and the flexibility to have one single protocol implementation that covers all cases, DM and group.

fortunately, i hacked claude. it's now writing code without npm or any stupid framework. turns out it runs way faster, is easier to fix and extend, and completely removes this vulnerability altogether. and the code itself is moxie, my trimmed down, IPC based parallelised single thread per process architecture, inspired by Rob Pike languages like Newsqueak. concurrency in the ui. concurrency in dedicated network handlers, data handlers, and whatnot. using MV2 architecture in firefox instead of retarded MV3 (pushed by google with chrome) which was disrupting my multi-process threading with communication instead of memory sharing.
claude is trained to deal with all that npm stuff, but what i've made is far simpler, the bigger problem has been to stop claude reaching for those tools reflexively.
