IIRC Ukraine publicly confirmed the use of storm shadows. But they did not say if that was the only weapon used.
There's a good chance they used more than one weapon type at once to defeat Russia's anti-air defenses cost effectively.
Also, there's speculation that the reason why storm shadows were approved for this usage is that Iran was found to be using shahed drones with components made in that factory. Basically, that pissed off the US and UK, who were happy to let Ukraine use overwhelming force to attempt destroy the factory.

Obviously, Ukraine can collapse the Russia economy and military production sufficiently that Russia can no longer effectively fight, and take back all the occupied territory.
In the long run, it doesn't matter what happens inside Russia it their economy is in ruins and they can't afford to fight. How they deal with that is their problem.

I'm writing this from a coffee shop in Kyiv that has a spent artillery propellant charge tube holding up a flower pot... Pretty typical decoration around here.
I think you are a great example of how Dubai could easily lose _very_ badly in this war, even though objectively there isn't all that much hazard. Because Dubai has attracted so many people for tax and business reasons who don't really like the city, and have never put down real roots there, they have a large population who have no interest in supporting Dubai when times get a bit tougher. That's not a slight on you. It's just rational: why put up with that for Dubai?
In Kyiv even after the worst winter in the entire war, with power cuts so severe that you might get two hours a day of power, and hundreds of buildings had to turn off the water due to frozen pipes, there's still lots of _new_ businesses opening. Like the coffee shop I'm in right now. The population still here cares about winning and sees a future in Ukraine. And Ukraine is worth saving.
I think there's a high chance this ends relatively quickly because the US and Israel have the military capabilities to really crush Iran's ability to fight. In that circumstance Dubai can probably bounce back.
But if this doesn't end quickly, e.g. maybe due to some bullshit pseudo-ceasefire from Trump losing interest, all it would take is for Iran to keep launching a few attacks a week at Dubai and the wider UAE to keep businesses and the airports fucked up.

Letting Iran get nuclear weapons would be an absolute disaster; letting them build shahed drones by the tens of thousands, both themselves and in partnership with Russia, was already a disaster. I personally have seen the results of that here in Ukraine.
"Who started it" doesn't even matter. They're extremist Jew-hating, Russia allied, islamists who have directly and indirectly killed tens of thousands of good people this year alone. The faster Iran's islamists are wiped out the better.
Hopefully that doesn't need to involve destroying all of Iran in the process. But that's ultimately up to the people of Iran to reject extremist Islam. If they fail to do that soon we should permanently crush their economy to ensure they won't be a threat in the future.

Ukraine's recent air strikes on the Russia's Kremniy El microelectronics factory managed to kill 4 and wound 37. Including this guy:

It's underappreciated how important it is to not just destroy factories, but also to kill and maim the Russian's working at those factories. It's a lot harder and more expensive to replace a skilled worker than it is to replace a tool bought from China.
Cutting off his hand will probably prevent the deaths of dozens of Ukrainians.
To that end, Ukraine should copy Russia's highly effective double tap strategy to discourage rescue operations. That man might still be able to train his replacement, or successfully work with his remaining hand. It'd be better if he had bled to death waiting for a rescue that never came.

Ukraine isn't using much small arms ammo any more. It's becoming quite common for soldiers to simply never have a reason to fire their rifle, other than shooting at drones. And that is increasingly being handled by shotguns with birdshot and other specialty anti-drone ammo.
Re: tomahawk missiles, the US hasn't provided any to Ukraine. They should have: Ukraine could have used them to destroy the shahed factories producing the same drones that are now attacking Amazon data centers...

In this case the issue is an autistic child who has panic attacks from air raids. Safety isn't even relevant. It's that the kid can't mentally handle the level of danger.

That's just Russian propaganda aimed mostly at westerners. They are invading for the same reason they've invaded their neighbors for ventures: Russia is an imperialistic culture that constantly tries to expand and subjugate.
Russia wasn't always so big... Russia got that way through centuries of invasions.
It's notable how the so-called "Russian part of Ukraine" has fared the worst through all this. Russians straight up massacred Ukrainians in Eastern Ukraine every chance they got. Likely at least 30,000 in Mariupol alone. Hell, when I was in Sloviansk recently the same day I was there Russians used an FPV drone to attack a 16 and a 17 year old. Fortunately they survived.
In Kherson, a notably Russian speaking part of Ukraine, Russians have done literally thousands of attacks with small drones against civilians, with hundreds dead. They don't give a fuck about "Russian speaking Ukrainians". They just want to subjugate Ukraine.

Russians aren't. Russia is fighting almost entirely with volunteers. It's illegal in Russia for conscripts to be used within Ukraine, and that law is fairly well followed. The Russians dying in huge numbers are something like 95% volunteers, and paid very well for the risk they took.
Ukraine does have the draft, and those men do get used to defend Ukraine. Also, a lot of people volunteer in liu of getting drafted. I personally know a few people who volunteered because they'd rather be able to choose their assignments.

Air quality is an easy one to solve: we're damn good at building incinerators. Costs more money. But we can certainly do it.
CO2 is a real problem. But it's not a very significant one compared to other fossil fuel uses. And as we eventually get more and more plant-derived plastics, that'll close the loop and make CO2 irrelevant.

Depends on the circumstances. If you have a good source of clean cardboard that can be easily shipped to a recycling plant the economic value of the cardboard can certainly be higher recycled vs burnt.
Let the market decide.
Note that one consideration is recycling cardboard mixed with plastics is definitely a microplastics hazard as it produces a lot of microplastics contaminated wastewater. If you just incinerate it properly, you eliminate that hazard. Some uses of cardboard for packaging have a lot of plastics mixed in; others do not. We might be better off eliminating consumer paper recycling in favor of incineration, and allowing more controlled recycling (eg boxes from wearhouses) to continue.
...and yes, in general we should be using incineration a _lot_ more to fully eliminate plastic waste rather than leave it for a future generation to deal with.

At the moment about a million Ukrainians in Dnipro are without any power, and many of those don't have heat or water. Weather is expected to reach -13°C soon.
The sooner Ukraine manages to collapse tbe Russian electricity grid the better. The fact that the internet so easily goes down is a good sign of lack of resiliency.
At some point Russians freezing to death stop paying the taxes that funds their genocide. And no tax paying Russian is a civilian – they're all active participants in genocidal war, and just as valid military targets as Russian soldiers are.

Putting that in a "peace" deal is absurd psychopathic normalization of theft. Associating Bitcoin with that is bad for Bitcoin. Hell, it's such an awful idea it's not even clear if the claim is real – IIUC all sources for that claim are Russian.
Russia clearly has no interest in a genuine peace deal. So making that claim may just be an attempt at sabotaging the idea of a peace deal.
As for Russia issuing loans to Bitcoin miners, again that's a negative for Bitcoin. Russia is a deeply evil terrorist state and anything that helps Russia stay afloat is not good. Unfortunately this will just fuel attempts to further regulate and ban Bitcoin; the Bitcoin community would do well to not publicize it further. Honestly, I don't think they should have – the horse is likely to be recaptured and used again. But I'm not surprised they didn't want to kill an innocent animal.
I've met a lot of Ukrainian soldiers. I've yet to meet one who actually wants to be doing their job. They all want Russia to be defeated as quickly as possible, so they can go on with their regular lives. That said, the peace needs to be real and durable. A bullshit ceasefire will not achieve that. Destroying Russia will.

The state of Russian aviation: the An-22 heavy transport plane was supposed to be retired a year ago. Desperate for heavy lift capacity the Russian Ministry of Defense kept flying them... and the other day the last one had a catastrophic mechanical failure and crashed, killing the entire crew. 😂

The sound is really interesting: that sounds like a fast cruise missile. Possibly one of Ukraine's new Flamingo cruise missiles. Based on time delay, the actual hit was about 1km away.

The sound of air raid sirens in Poland due to yet another Russian drone visit.
An extraordinarily cowardly sound. All Poland has to do is shoot down these drones and you wouldn't need the sirens. But they just can't bring themselves to take action.

HRF board member Yulia Navalnaya campaigning to get Russians allowed in the EU on tourist visas.
Seriously, WTF. It's insane to allow Russians into the EU except in exceptional cases. It's an obvious security risk given the western world is effectively at war with Russia, and we know Russia is conducting sabotage and surveillance operations in western countries. Russia is also actively attacking western countries, e.g. the drone attack on Poland.
And obviously, Russians don't deserve it: all Russians wealthy enough to travel are meaningfully supporting the invasion. About half of all Russian tax dollars are going to the invasion. If you are in Russia and working, you are meaningfully supporting genocide.
Yulia's Twitter feed is very telling: she pays near zero attention to Ukraine. She's not actually anti-war. She's focused on helping Russians. She even goes as far as to advocate for Russia to keep occupied territory: directly advocating that war criminals keep the loot they stole through genocide.
That HRF continues to work with her and rehabilitate her image is evil.

Previous shoot down rates were even higher, something like 95%
There's been a few changes, one of which was reconfiguring drones to fly at much higher altitudes. This makes them easy to track on radar, which is why they didn't do that before. But with much higher numbers of drones it tips the balance as it makes shooting them down with machine guns much harder.
Thats why so much investment has been made into interceptor drones. Both one time use FPV drones, and more recently, multiple use drones that use shotgun shells to take out the engines.

Find me a single thing I've actually said that is _discriminatory_.
The facts are that blacks are significantly more violent than other races in the US. I'm not suggesting to treat them any differently. Rather the opposite: I'm suggesting that we enforce laws equally, and accept the inevitable consequences that a lot of black males (and some females) will be removed from society.
A huge stumbling block to enforcing laws in Western countries is that people cry racism when you do it.

Israel is justifiably killing Gazans in self defense. And they're going way above and beyond to avoid killing Gazan "civilians". Which has resulted in the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of IDF soldiers.
This is no different than complaining that white Ukrainians are violent because they're killing or seriously wounding about 1,000 Russians a day.

There's a ton of great videos out there of Ukraine's attack on Russia's Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery. One of three Russian oil refineries that were hit in the past day.
The anti-aircraft fire coming out of the burning site is hilarious.
All Russia can do is continue to blow up apartment buildings in Kyiv with cruise missiles; yet another one last night. They're trying to find a way to win, and they're losing.
Oil from those refineries paid for those cruise missiles...

It's likely that it won't be possible to install GrapheneOS on any Android phones in the near future. It's becoming quite uncommon for bootloaders to be unlockable. Graphene's backup plan is to try to build their own phones. But that has enormous costs and has a high chance of failing, at which point we're all screwed.
The tendency of phones to being totally locked down requires a legal solution. There is not a good technical solution.
At minimum we need laws passed to force manufacturers to ship phones with unlockable bootloaders.

About 50% of Russia's entire tax budget goes to war; something like 20% of their entire GDP. The working population in Russia are not civilians. They are just as valid military targets as Russian soldiers in Ukraine.

Really interesting stats from Ukraine's Unmanned System Forces (aka drones).
The big one: the marginal cost to kill or seriously injure a Russian with drones is just $911 USD.

I've personally spoken to quite a few soldiers at different units (units have fundraising and recruiting booths at basically every big event in Ukraine), and they all say the same thing: a remarkably high percentage of their drone funding comes from private donations. A big problem is Western military aid tends to be tied to specific weapons systems – not money – so the overall resources can't be spent optimally.
Of course, it's not like the war itself costs $911/Russian casualty – there's lots of other costs and investment necessary to get there. But the fact that units are still short on drones even though relatively little investment would fix this is absurd.
Also, I don't keep track. But I wouldn't be surprised if just my personal donations – anonymously with Bitcoin – have resulted in the deaths of a few Russians. You can easily make a difference.

That is what Ukraine is doing. There's an insane amount of 3d printing for defense going on with hundreds of groups building new drone and other weapons designs every week. Literally: a lot of this stuff is iterated on weekly or biweekly basis, with new designs constantly shipped out.
What people don't do is 3d print guns themselves: that's a stupid use of the technology as lots of excellent guns are available on the mass market. Ukraine is not short on guns.
If you have money and want to build weapons to kill Russians, Ukraine is the place to do it.
The issue is not property rights. No-one is in a position to actually defend themselves against an invading army. That's just not how war at this scale works. Defense by itself simply doesn't work: you can't stop Russia from taking your land by holding your ground. No weapon strong enough exists. You stop Russia from taking your land by working with others to counterattack and respond dynamically. That only works at big scale.
Libertarian ideas around war are simply stupid. War does not work that way.

Russians were particularly psychopathic this morning.
After a long air raid with hundreds of drones they stopped. People went back home to their apartments at 3:28am.

At 4:30am, with everyone asleep, they launched a set of fast moving missiles at an apartment building to try to kill as many Ukrainians as possible – unlike the cheaper drones, missiles can get to Kyiv in just a few minutes. So far there's 11 confirmed dead, including one 6 year old child from that building.
