Yes. It would be nice to put an end to this FUD. The biggest challenge will be reaching consensus on what to do with Satoshi’s coins and other dormant wallets. Should they be permanently locked after a certain number of years if the owners never upgrade to a quantum‑resistant protocol, or should they remain untouched? I almost want them to remain untouched to effectively serve as a “bounty” to see whether a future quantum computer can actually compromise them or not.

I would. Paying on demand is better than paying a fixed membership fee. It helps filters out bots and spam even when I don’t pay to post or reply. It ensures more signal and less noise. One could always hop into another client/relay and see Nostr unfiltered if they want.

No. This wouldn’t be mandatory for everyone. The satoshi‑pay model would only affect users who deliberately choose a client and a relay that have adopted those rules. Everyone else can continue using the standard, free‑of‑charge Nostr ecosystem.

It would be awesome if someone were to vibe code a Nostr client and relay that operate solely on satoshis. I remember reading about this idea in the early days of Nostr.
Every action would have a cost. The relay would only accept notes that are published with satoshis, and it would keep those satoshis as its fee. The client would display only zap‑note replies and the same rule would apply to DMs.
This pay‑to‑publish model would discourage spam, reward the relay for forwarding content, and give users a clear incentive to attach value to the messages they send.
