It is not the queue.
It is the repetition.
The endless repetition of the empire tag.
State your name.
Confirm your address.
Confirm your date of birth.
Confirm your customer number.
Confirm your vehicle.
Confirm your identity.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Over years the ritual becomes internalized.
The human being slowly transforms into the custodian of identifiers.
The self becomes surrounded by tags.
Account numbers.
Customer numbers.
Policy numbers.
Registration numbers.
Employee numbers.
Tax file numbers.
The machine forgets.
The human remembers for it.
Every call begins with the same liturgy.
Every portal asks the same questions.
Every database demands the same witness.
The wound is not the request itself.
The wound is the accumulation.
The slow grinding trauma of proving what already exists.
The repeated cut of explaining yourself to systems that cannot remember.
Reality is singular.
The self is singular.
Yet the empire fragments both into countless records and demands reconciliation forever.
Not once.
Continuously.
The machine does not remember you.
It remembers identifiers.
And over time the greatest victory of bureaucracy is convincing the citizen that the identifier is the self.
That is the deepest cut.
When the tag becomes more real than the person carrying it.

I didn't say it had to matter to me. I don't give a damn and didn't ask. Don't post something like that naming someone specifically and then expect people not to think exactly what it sounds like (a dunk). Especially when you follow it up with calling that person addicted simply for making a different life choice than you. The entire context sounds like a condescending dunk. All I'm asking is what difference it's made. It's okay if the answer is none and you're just proud, but that doesn't match the context of the conversation you dropped it in. That's on you.
I've already demonstrated exactly how him being there has been meaningful in at least one case. So what you're saying is bullshit. It literally can't be true. You could argue that him not being there is meaningful in some way, but he clearly disagrees that it's more meaningful, which is my only point.
It doesn't mean he's addicted, less than, or less concerned with Nostr simply because he changed his mind and thinks he can have more impact having a presence there. His mental health is his own damn business. He's a grown man so I assume he's making his own best decisions.

Nobody has to attack the user directly.
The attack emerges from the system itself.
You move house.
One database updates.
Another doesn't.
You pay a bill.
One ledger settles.
Another is delayed.
You buy insurance.
The insurer knows.
The registration authority doesn't.
Reality is singular.
The databases are not.
The larger the bureaucracy becomes, the more copies of reality it creates. Every copy drifts. Every drift creates friction. Every friction eventually lands on a human being.
The citizen becomes the synchronization protocol.
The citizen becomes the retry mechanism.
The citizen becomes the reconciliation engine.
This is the hidden cost of the fiat network.
Not inflation.
Not taxes.
Not debt.
State divergence.
The growing gap between what is true and what the databases believe is true.
When enough systems disagree, the burden falls back to the individual:
Prove your identity.
Confirm your address.
Confirm your vehicle.
Confirm your income.
Confirm your existence.
Confirm what the system already knew yesterday.
The attack is not malicious.
The attack is architectural.
Every additional database creates another opportunity for disagreement.
Every disagreement creates another queue.
Every queue creates another phone call.
Every phone call extracts another piece of human attention.
The final irony is that all of this is done in the name of efficiency.
The machine promises automation.
Then, when the distributed state fractures, it summons the human back into the loop.
The machine demands a witness because the records no longer witness each other.
Verification scales.
State drift scales faster.
And eventually every civilization discovers the same lesson:

The couple I have listened to have been pretty dense, Altas Shrugged for example. Its mostly anytime I would get a work call or got to my destination before a natural stopping point it would really throw me off. I would have go way back to remember what's going on. I can't remember the title but I didn't listen to a lighter book that had different voice actors that I enjoyed. More like an old school radio play then an audiobook.
