For the last two years my bike's rear cog was held in place with epoxy glue and prayers. This happened because the lock nut welded itself to the hub and had to be cut open. The hub's thread was so destroyed that it needed to be replaced. I needed the bike so I McGyvered this solution. This time I put some anti-seize on the thread so this should not happen again.

@nprofile…hrzl It is frowned upon as it may cause weird things to happen depending on what current is going to flow in that connection.
If you don't populate this component your ground will be broken. This you typically find after hours of debugging.
Unless you need a simple pull-down on the other side don't do it.

I am dreading replacing the rubber grip on a shifter in my recumbent. I will probably print a new one. I was also thinking whether a grip tape would work.

@nprofile…4gcp @nprofile…6m65 te wahania nie będą krótkoterminowe. Nawet jak ropa spadnie do cen sprzed wojny Trumpa to i tak koszt eksploatacji diesli będzie wyższy niż elektryków. A jak przedsiębiorstwa autobusowe odkryją, że mogą zainstalować panele i ładować swoim prądem to koszt elektryków jeszcze spadnie.
Brak uzależnienia od karteli energetycznych, niższa cena użytkowania i serwisu. Zmniejszone eksternalizowane koszty. Te inwestycje są jak najbardziej dyktowane długofalowym myśleniem.

@nprofile…qrtm as I undestand you need to measure capacitor voltage twice at some time interval and see how it changed. Then you subtract these two voltages. Each measurement has the offset error but their difference will not.

@nprofile…qrtm Oh, that actually simplifies the requirements a lot. Because you care about ΔU = U1+Uos − (U2+Uos) the Uos cancels. This means you can use any cheap FET input opamp like TL07x (if it is within your input/output voltage range). If not, use something more modern, like AD8603 RRIO opamp.

@nprofile…qrtm INA21x is a current sense amplifier so it is typically connected to a low impedance shunt resistor so they can get away with poor bias current.
If your input is high impedance then you may charge/discharge the capacitor. But this really depends if you care when this happens. What do you drive the capacitor with? Do you expect to hold charge at the capacitor for a long time? What is your capacitor leakage?
For DC I will recommend you AoE3 chapter 5. AoE:X has some log amplifier info.

@nprofile…qrtm Mind you there are plenty of cheap opamps with small-ish offset voltages. Vintage TL072 is ~1mV. MCP6072 is 0.15mV. INA21x are also a good chap choice for fixed voltage gains.

@nprofile…8x2j Order a few more PCBs than you need. Take some of the spare PCBs and drill out the pressfit holes a bit. Then use these PCBs as a support for the PCB you are making. Use a vice to press the component straight in. This way the stress is evenly distributed.
Sometimes I also oversize the press fit holes so the component goes in smoothly and then tack solder some of the pins so it does not get pulled out easily.

It really matters who is the main applicant. The industry may be afraid of your "activism". Academia may not but they will want "credentials" and that means titles, publications and talks at conferences.
EU values diversity (academia/industry) in a consortium. You are neither now. That may be your "in". Tell your prospective partners that. You esentially represent the people but you have super broad knowledge.

Do any of you have a SMU that can reach 1kV level? I’d like to do a simple (remote) experiment but my SMUs only reach 210V. Keithley 2410, 2470 or 2657 models would be ideal.
We are investigating switching losses of power transistors and we need to measure the output capacitance in a particular way.
