Take some of the spare PCBs and drill out the pressfit holes a bit. Then use these PCBs as a support for the PCB you are making. Use a vice to press the component straight in. This way the stress is evenly distributed.
Sometimes I also oversize the press fit holes so the component goes in smoothly and then tack solder some of the pins so it does not get pulled out easily.
