Basically a contract to have something delivered or refunded market value for at a specific future date. Contract buyer is long, contract seller is short, basically. Like short selling a stock but with higher maximum leverage

It's a kinda nonsense name. "Perpetual futures" because they act like futures but without an expiration date, which makes it a bad name because without an expiration date, they're NOT futures. A better name for them would be "whenevers."
Perps aren't like futures, they're more like regular margin trading except with more leverage available. And they generally have the option to do 1x leverage so it's exactly like plain old margin on a brokerage short selling a stock.

Perpetual futures dapps aka "perps" commonly have doge to short with no USD, but you'd have to find one that doesn't geoblock you (or use a VPN or whatever)
