My experience publishing music via RSS is probably 95% of boosts are from the same group of less than 10 people immediately after I announce a new release or autoboosts when it get played on a music show.
I won't name you but thanks guys! 🙏
I don't know if others have the same experience or not.
Everything I have been boosted I boost back into the music economy. I want to help support and grow this alternative.
I haven't been very successful onboading listeners and it seems most bitcoiners aren't interested in financially supporting musicians embracing the fairer alternative system - they are happy pay their Spotify subscription because they get value from the platform itself.

And I'd suggest the majority of industry musicians make use of ai - though many won't admit to it.
Personally I don't really enjoy AI music. And if I do happen to enjoy something that's AI I feel somewhat cheated.
I also hate being unsure if music is AI or not.

I use Fountain primarily for the built-in wallet. I don't have the means to pay for Alby or run my own wallet.
I'm generally on the go so auto-downloads for offline listening is also must for me.

I'm switching between 4 different nostr client apps and I find notes that are completely abscent in others. And it's not consistent which apps miss notes or show notes missing in the others.
Am I doing wrong out is this just how it generally works?

Most people (artists included) are cowards and apathetic.
They will 💯 agree with you and bemoan the current state of the music industry but won't do anything that might slightly compromise their personal comfort - even when you present them with a very real solution.

People have been conditioned that music is free and the value is the platform itself.

Some thoughts fwiw...
I haven't found a decent implementation of being notified when an artist they follow releases something new. This is a real shortcoming compared to legacy platforms. (That, and new music discovery).
When an artist receives a boost it's generally a one-way transaction because the only identifier is a lnurl.
Some apps can generate a nostr note automatically when you boost, which is great promotion, by it also links the booster npub. What's missing is notifying the artist.
Tagging the artist in the note would give them the opportunity to say thanks and interact directly.
You can include npub in the RSS feed (MSP2.0 has this option) but I don't think apps are using it yet.
I'm wondering if "Nostr music" might be the ultimate solution, where development seems more rapid and flexible than podcasting2.0?

I had not noticed that before. That's one of the reasons I like to boost from Fountain!
Another is that I'm using their wallet for my splits (keysend ya know). It means I can easily return any value I receive from my music. But I don't think I can NWC their wallet 😢

This is one of the reasons I don't register my music with any of the ContentID systems. The platforms are only doing what the artist has requested and protecting their copywritten work when it has been registered there.

stablekraft.app might be the most QA curated v4v music app - it only lists music that has been played on v4v music shows so has been vetted by them already.

I dislike that @nprofile…jy0c is essentially a centralized platform and only lists it's own music - not the full index. Much of my music is self-hosted RSS so does not appear in Wavlake.
I agree with your thoughts that music discovery in the apps is lacking and also the prevelence of AI slop is frustrating. Also I have not found a good way of being alerted when an artist I like releases a new track.
@nprofile…7u5r has the best native app for podcasting2.0 music that I have found but it still needs work.
lnbeats.com and v4vmusic.com are both great pure music websites and can be installed as an app (PWA). They both have different features I like.
There is also Nostr Music that is built on nostr protocol and I'm aware of a handful of apps supporting that.
But I'm still finding my way here on decentralized music and social media protocols. I'm sure I am missing lots.

From memory, and Linux in general, there's some local udev permissions that need to be set for some of the commands to work. And SNAP- and FlatPak- installed browsers may not work for the process, but you can it it all via terminal which is a quite straight forward process anyway.
