It's bleach according to the fearmongers who make their money telling you all the ways your food is killing you. Technically it is not bleach but a bleach solution of unspecified ratio. In common language it's tap water from the local city supply to wash the crap off of it before cooking. The same tap water you just straight drink.
Remember that these were once live animals covered in feathers, full of blood, and had an entire intestinal tract. You definitely do not want to eat the ones that weren't washed. I once had a lightning node. Then I closed it down because you can't migrate a node off start9. And I haven't made a new one.
The only reason to run a lightning node I can think of is if you actually need it for real purposes besides self-custody. But I don't think it should be a goal for everyone.
As the layers go up, sovereignty goes down. If this ever becomes mainstream at a population level, I think most people will operate in a non-sovereign mode by default. And as they accumulate more BTC, they may choose to move down the layers to gain more independence.

It works pretty well in a fully custodial way (in my experience). But the more I try to use it in a private way, the more I hate it. I don't think it's a total washout. It just needs some work. And it's a really hard thing. It's not like anyone is just not making things better. Payments is probably an insanely frustrating field to work on.
This is the second one I found in the house. I talked to one neighbor and he said it's pretty common. I'm just worried about baby turk. He will probably be crawling in a month or two and I don't want him to get stung by a scorpion 🦂

This is my position on Lightning as well. If CS graduates struggle, that's a good sign it at minimum isn't built for normal people. Does it need to be? Different question, but it isn't. I pretty much gave up and settled for whatever Yakihonne uses and Strike. Phoenix is usually pretty good too.
But doing Lightning in the purist way is ridiculous. The Monero boys have a point there.
