I had the displeasure of listening to #RNZ this morning as I had to drive my wife to work in her car which was tuned to RNZ.
The misinformation and manufacturing of consent for the illegal US Israeli war against Iran was shocking.
I know RNZ has gone down hill but I found the blatant disregard of context quite disturbing, particularly considering this is our #NZPol funded national media.
RNZ morning report announced that there were concerns about Iran threatening to bomb US universities in ME. I was waiting for RNZ to explain why Iran had made these threats but nothing.

Firstly Iran is granting safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for any ship carrying oil paid for in yuan rather than the USD. This is obviously an attempt to destroy the petrodollar which enables US to continue waging wars and enforce sanctions on countries that don’t serve US interests.
The petrodollar also maintains the USD as a necessary currency for every nation to trade globally which allows the US to print money and run up debt. it’s current debt is over 39 trillion dollars borrowed against federal government assets of approximately $6.1 trillion.
The US Treasury announced earlier this week that the US is now insolvent.
The illegal war against Iran is essentially over the threat posed to US hegemony by a growing global shift to a multipolar system of trade, that meaning the USD is not necessary for to countries to trade with each other.

We have a similar problem in Aotearoa NZ. Unlike UK, NZ has a proportional representation system of government similar to the German system - Mixed Member Proportional Representation aka MMP.
The NZ Greens have a strong representation in parliament but have never been in government they have had ‘confidence and supply’ relationships with Labour led governments but have never been able to get roles inside cabinet.
This year there’s another #NZPol general election and the right are getting seriously nervous about the Greens policies and rise in popularity. The #NZMedia continue to either ignore or misrepresent the Greens. However the reality is, like everywhere else, the msm no longer have the power and influence they once had.
I hope 2026 will see Greens form a coalition government with NZ Labour who, it must be said, are far better than Kid Starver and his UK Labour imposters.

Yup, we had jobs for everyone.
For the period 1960-1977, NZ's unemployment rate was often below 0.5% and never above 1%.
NZ had state employers like Ministry of Works, Railways, NZ Forestry etc to allow even the most unskilled workers an opportunity to work and earn a living.
There was certainly poor people but I never saw the kind of poverty we witness everywhere we look on a daily basis with a government that punches down on the very victims of neoliberalism.
Party vote #Green and restore the *Ministry of Works and renationalise our power companies.

I am old enough to remember life before Rogernomics. I have never felt as good about the world as I did prior to the introduction of neoliberalism and the collapse of the once great egalitarian society we shared in Aotearoa where *everyone was able to have a crack at whatever they wanted.

I never said it wasn't political, every trade agreement is political. What I said is #BRICS is not a military or political alliance it is an alternative system of multi polar trading free of interference from the current US hegemony system where international trade requires trading in US dollars.

I just had some (Christian) God botherer’s come to my door to discuss the “seal of peace”.

I've wanted to watch this doco, #Israelism for some time now and wonderfully Al Jazeera have posted it on YouTube making it available for all.

The US msm was also very silent when Saudi Arabia didn’t renew the deal originally made with Nixon to trade all its oil using the US petrodollar. It now trades oil directly with BRICS nations in their own currencies. The US is being isolated from the rest of the world largely due to its support for Israel’s genocide.

Israel's Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, has declared United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres persona non grata and banned him from entering Israel.
Israel sees itself as being above international law which is very problematic.

An occupying force has no right to defence from the people being occupied whereas the occupied territories have the right to defend themselves from occupying forces.
This right is affirmed in the context of the right of self-determination of all peoples under foreign and colonial rule. The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has expressly affirmed the right of #Palestinians to resist #Israeli military occupation, including through armed struggle.
