In my experience working with criminal teenagers there are two ways to counter this behaviour type:
1) Make sure their behaviours are unsuccessful. Ignore, counter, mock
2) Have more power than him. Make him fear you …
This all breaks down in the event of brain damage from old timer type diseases.

People like President Trump aren't deductive thinkers. They try things to see the response of the object of their attention. Everything they do is directed at getting that emotional response then using that response to further their objectives. And everything he does, everybody he surrounds himself with are all geared to gaining him power and money …

I keep hearing Trump say he's charging the exporting country the tariff …
The importer pays the tariff then decides wether to pass it on to the consumer
Or not
Ultimately, he's basing it on his idea that US income belongs to him.

Imo, if you're talking about pipelines, you're not talking about climate change. You're indulging in a feel-good approach to an existential crisis. Pipelines have nothing to do with climate change. It's much like the e-vehicle proponents telling us that manufacturing 100's millions of vehicles that run on e-power will somehow mitigate the GHG's produced in their manufacture.

And the best way to stop pipelines is
STOP burning fossil fuels.
This has the added benefit of also directly decreasing GHG emissions (which curbing pipelines doesn't)
In our economic system, fossil fuels exploration, extraction AND transportation occurs in response to demand. If we don't decrease demand decreasing any of the parts of the process is just a feel-good but dumb attempt to look good.

The bias of experience is everywhere.
News outlets/reporters assume that unless they know about it, it doesn't happen.
Social media amplifies this as only events/opinions/worlds we hear about exist.
COVID-19 is an example. During the pandemic reporters demanded to know why we weren't doing anything, then demanded to know why we didn't do it sooner then promoted fears (misdirected at mRNA vaccines)
And now almost nothing in the news and many think no one is dying from COVID anymore.

I think polls don't mean what the media report them to mean.
Rather than support for one idea/candidate or another polls are really tests of media influence. And the media feed off the self fulfilling prophecies they test.
In order to make them mean more, each poll needs to have a question about where the respondent gets their information and then statistically stripped based on that media bias to arrive at any semblance of accuracy about then purported topic …
