I have nothing but contempt for people like that, but I will feel just as angry at whichever media pundits take this story and selectively use the gibberish slogans on the guns to try and score political points. The best thing to do is pray for the families of the victims and leave his memory in the ash, because he explicitly wants the opposite.

Another good thing about learning languages is that you can more easily notice mental blindspots/pigeonholes in how individuals and cultures process information. For example, I (and many anglophones) rely a lot on starting sentences with "I think..." to convey opinion, when most latin languages opt to overuse "I believe..." which is is similar but clearly distinct.

Well, in large part, we think ourselves more refined than the madman because we point to the end results and say "Look here, I reasoned and planned, and it got me where I am today! The madman either made a flaw in logic, or did not think at all, and that is the source of his misfortune." but that opens an entirely different and equally difficult discussion.
When people look at raccoons repeatedly wash away cotton candy, or cats incessantly lick themselves clean, there's a recognition that they are perhaps slaves to their own programming. The idea that humans have similar faults is scary, because it suddenly forces you to consider that you might not be the complete agent of your life. That's not a light thing to dwell upon.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing either. Slight digression, but I suppose I've resigned to stop putting so much emphasis on justifications altogether. Whether I do something because I believe it logically or morally, I still did the thing, and that's now where my focus is placed.
For all the stuff I write about worldviews and rationals, I'm beginning to believe it's largely a way to stay sane, because "I did it on instinct" isn't something we- and especially me- like to admit.

I actually wrote about that too, in... hold on let me find it.
Journal entry, 06/06/2023. probably rambly and not worth reading:
>it's odd that we contain ideas that sometimes clash and contradict in very large ways, yet often are blind to these inconsistencies or continue with them long after being exposed to them. (My favorite inconsistency (personally) are ardent marxists who are simultaneously feminists, but that is very low hanging fruit and speaks little to the volume of inconsistent ideas that I myself hold)
>If you look through and read old philosophies like gnosticism, hermeticism, stoicism, aristotelianism, etc. it's likely that you will see some very intriguing lenses to parse the world through, although the chance that you will accept everything and declare yourself as an ardent follower of those philosophies is probably very low. (and if you find yourself switching ideologies rapidly after learning about them, consider that you may be very easily influenced, or you possibly just have poor knowledge retention)
>In truth, humans are very good at catching novel ideas off others and using it as a tool in conjunction with their already existing worldview. This is natural and largely beneficial, as you can better filter information through varied worldviews and come to a more personalized understanding of how things work. This is, in my opinion, what differentiates the real human beans™️ from the unwashed NPC masses. Or maybe the "NPCs" just have an unlucky combination of a lower volume of lenses combined with poor lense quality, and lack the desire to broaden that aspect of themselves. After all, who needs to learn the complex orgins of modern philosophical reasoning when you can compare every interaction to Star Wars or Harry Potter?
>Regardless, one observation that arrises from this laissez-faire system of retention is that eventually you will run into phenomena which have contradictory explanations- two beliefs that you may have initially held simultaneously are now at ends with each other. When this problem presents itself, you feel a specific form of cognitive dissonance. The response to this can manifest in several ways:
>One worldview will overtake the other, with the lesser view taking a lower priority;
>One worldview will overtake the other, with the lesser view being removed from your lenses completely;
>The issue is shelved, retaining both beliefs in a schrödinger fashion until one is deemed less probable;
>The dominant yet irrational worldview retaining a higher priority than the more rational view, usually accompanied by a thought-terminating cliché.

I bring it up in the stats because it goes further than simple opinions on government policy. Leftism, Feminism, Socialism etc. is an academic cult. They don't vote for Democrat policies "to help out the underdogs" but rather because they derive purpose and meaning behind identifying as "Democrat." They're not a woman first, feminist second. They're feminist first, woman second.
Look at how many dating profiles say "swipe left if you're a republican." If politics are more valuable to her life than love, she won't actually love you. Even if you happen to agree with her politics, you'll never know for certain if she loves you or her politics more.

It's the statistics that really shatter my view on sex and relationships. Virginity aside, you'd think the requirements of
>female
>attractive
>won't ruin my life
would be a pretty low bar, but that's actually really picky nowadays.
Consider the following:
>~60% of young American women are obese
>~72% of women go to college, meaning they have debt you need to take care of, most likely for a useless degree
>~65% of young women identify as democrat or feminist
>~40% of single women 18-35 are single moms
>CDC estimates ~25% of women have HERPES, rates of other STDs likely increase this percentage
>~25% of women are on antidepressants, other mental illnesses increase this percentage
>15% of women have 4+ tattoos
now obviously there's co-correlation to factor into these numbers, but that would still leave such an infinitesimally small number of women actually capable of fulfilling the THREE WHOLE REQUIREMENTS I look for before I'm willing to spend my one finite life with them. I'm going to be single forever.

If you've ever spoken to business majors you'll know this is explicitly taught as good practice. The goal is to increase profit margins at any cost, including the long term survival of the company. According to economic nerds, it balances out because the companies that don't do that become dominant blah blah blah, but they fail to understand that it's every company doing it simultaneously. That's why hand tools are such low quality compared to the stuff grandpa has in his garage, and why appliances break after a couple months of constant use.

the American obesity epidemic is especially peculiar because of our climate. It's one thing if we lived in Nordic conditions where some blubber is natural due to staying indoors and having body insulation, but half the country is hot as hell. It should all sweat off, but we Americans expertly cultivate our guts to retain their bulbous form despite it all.

Yeah maybe I'll look into it more, but your whole premise is about as sound as mine is. On the one hand you say
>None of the positions would support a mentality of giving up because God will sort it out
but then say
>things will get worse the closer to the end we get, and that only God will determine when the end is
but if it is not up to us, what incentive is there to not give up? Ultimately nothing I do will actually work against the forces of evil because God himself prophesied against me, so it's not exactly the assurance that everyone keeps claiming it is.
>What is actually needed is for Christians to take their faith seriously and act like Christians.
This is ultimately meaningless because nobody can agree on what acting Christlike actually means. Everyone has their own definitions and there is nothing to grant merit to any of them beyond success vs failure, and they're *all* failing.

I've largely covered the sentiment before here: https://poa.st/objects/ab0ec232-71e8-4638-8b69-c85071264b53
and here: https://poa.st/objects/dd5ecb44-cf26-4a4a-a9a2-e5978051b184
but the short answer is that unlike judaism which believes they can usher in their God by checking a bunch of prerequisites like enslaving mankind, building the third temple and slaying red cows, Christianity largely has this view that we are ultimately up to the whims of evil until Christ returns. This takes away the personal responsibility of upholding the church and community and gives no incentive to try and preserve it.
If we are to get a Christian revival, it necessarily must reject this outlook and either move towards what I think is true (abandonment) or a more charitable view like "God will return once we make a place sufficiently holy for him." I think that'd work, but we're in desperate need of this firmware update because the alternative is guaranteed stagnation.

>seems to require something that in the first place you are either born with or not
is like 95% predestination, which is why I decided to bring it up; I have a hard time reconciling this with the idea that I somehow got that X factor in me. Seems like hubris. Not to say that you *shouldn't* assume you have it, but I don't consider it a forgone conclusion.
Conversely, I actually don't find the idea of living in a forsaken world to be very disheartening. It certainly is a better version of hell than what is classically depicted, because abiding by Logos appears to alleviate suffering and that's precisely how I would envision a just & merciful God's punishment. It also just fits more soundly into our current paradigm and is more useful to believe than the idea that things get worse and worse until someone (not me) does something to make it better. That premillenial thinking is why we're in this mess to begin with.

But even this reply feels contradictory, no?
>one is not doomed
>"salvation" isn't an opportunity available to most people.
I wrote my previous post partially in jest but there's a kernel of truth in it and I think we may agree more than it first appears. Also not to throw a wrench into the discussion just to stir the pot, but the whole idea of limited salvation can easily be understood as a gateway to calvanist predestination, of which I assume you don't subscribe to?

2024-09-26 03:55:15 UTC

- reply

I think people switched to universalism simply because the requirements for salvation seem unclear, and so they often take the most charitable interpretation, being "believe in me, repent, and be baptized in my name" as taught at the end of each gospel. Otherwise, salvation appears *too* difficult, and so you get the problem of "I'd rather be in hell with loved ones than alone in heaven" thinking.
At this point in my life, the most plausible explanation to me is the postmillenial worldview. https://poa.st/objects/457e9bdc-60eb-434e-9c6f-b480f9897b27

I skimmed the thread and Im not even sure the actual point but if the question generally is "why isn't there rw art" here are some passing hypotheses:
1. Autism (the bad kind)
2. Art is as ill-defined as love and so it often jumps between intrinsic beauty (a sunrise) and hypothetical (deep plotline, make u think media) and rw'ers generally like/make former over latter. we don't *talk* about the former because there's nothing to be said.
3. There's definitely a control/power factor. It's like asking why there aren't any Islamic star-and-crescent insignias at the Vatican. If my game/movie/painting can't be publicly available then either it's super niche or I just don't make it. even completely apolitical stuff like fnaf got canned when the creator was ousted as a Trump supporter.
4. Cultural pressures are a big factor. Political leanings of an individual are heavily influenced by the politics of the parents and peers, so an artistically inclined rw'er is much more likely to be steered away from it (by parents *and* the industry) and towards labor and other activities. My own brother was an outcast with art and had to pursue other stuff because nobody's hiring. So the problem reinforces itself; no demand makes no supply makes no demand

2024-08-29 20:05:20 UTC

rw artnigga thread seems to be missing the forest for the trees.
I want to make beautiful things because there's implicit meaning in beauty. I go to the library and see the cute gorl with a dress and bangs and big rimmed circle glasses and my day improves even if I don't talk to her. She's art. I work out so that others can have a good day because of me. it's like self sculpture. Is that "right wing?" does "right wing" even have any meaning?
Is it "political?" nigga that's entirely up to the environment you place it in. Metal Gear Solid is the most surface level unpolitical geopolitical game ever made. Who cares. Culinary art can be political given enough screaming retards but I'd still eat it if it tasted good.

Maybe *you* don't need religion to function, but can you point to any society that has flourished without it? Religion is useful, even if you find it distasteful. Removing a visible religion just allows a secret religion to develop, and that's exactly what we're experiencing in the US.

Modern Christianity really reveals how malleable it is, how they can take the most antisemitic book ever written and claim that jews are God's chosen people, or conveniently forget all the stories against sodomy and say its fine because jesus said be nice or something.
There's clearly *something* there that holds people fast to it, and I don't want to destroy that for others. I wish I still had that. I'd rather just re-bend the values to be more in line with my own instead of burning it all down for no reason. Does that make sense?

agnostics be like "Uhm maybe ☝️🤓"
Either have conviction in disbelief or champion a righteous cause. Yes I'm a hypocrite here, but it's true. I'd rather pay lip service to an institution which enforces positive social technology than try and muddy the water because I think I'm somehow smarter than anyone else.

as far as christianity is concerned, its kinda hard to not throw the baby out with the bath water. I see the *utility* in it. I see the *history* and *culture* that surrounds it. I agree with many *principles* that encompass it. Do I *believe*? I cant really answer that definitively. I choose not to talk about it because it causes nothing but grief whenever I do. And no i think agnosticism is gay.
If you have any questions about it let me know though.

We often laugh at the techbro cultists who think athiest rapture (singularity) is a decade away but we don't often take the time to laugh at spacecucks who think we should divert all our attention towards a red sphere that's barely visible from our planet. like maybe try gardening in your own back yard nigga.

I also think that environment really fucked with puberty. I *knew* other kids could sneak into their parents house with their gf, they'd brag about it. I wouldn't dare let anyone from school see my house because I was sharing bunks with siblings, and being poor meant that everyone hoarded what they owned. Total mess everywhere, I'm one of two kids total who shook those habits.

You're probably right and my family just has some tisms, but my brother and I would tinker with old unreal engine games, hacking and "modding" by splicing things from one game into another. We only had a single hour of computer time, but boy did we make it last.
My problem throughout childhood was a lack of output. Garage with no tools, living in suburbia sprawl in a crime prone area of the city. We were forced to be cooped up, even if I wanted nothing more than to hike up the mountains. When (if) I get kids of my own, I won't make that same mistake.

I'm going to give my kids a "skill tree" of games to let them appreciate the artform, like start with basic NES mario and then move up to different genres and better graphics as they beat them.
If they give up then it's for the best because they'll find more productive hobbies.

Yeah it could work with the religious boomers, but they're also pretty solidified in their thinking. The issue is that there's a lot of well meaning agnostic zoomers who eat this shit up, and there's not one good, general use term for it. The ones we've invented only seem to work with guys who already know the score.
ZOG, GAE, "the cathedral", "Babylon, "the regime" are very sober, political terms describing the *people* who run it, but there's a religion of the west that permeates the everyday man, and it's really pernicious because we can't describe it.

It's difficult to raise the alarm, too, because there's not a good way of describing this phenomenon. "globohomo" is useful in certain contexts with certain people, but sounds schizo when you start discussing it after a coworker shows you a "funny" video. How else do I point out all these skits just solidify the western state religion? It's even worse with movies.

I think your perception may be colored by tiktok fags. I've met one parrot guy and he was a nice old man, but those stupid bird videos of them breaking shit are everywhere because the owners want attention, and they realize the cat/dog video market is oversaturated.
Also male cat ladies are called "cat dads" because these poor millennials never had kids.

I'm reminded of this every time I watch older movies, and wonder how a premodern person would react to modern movies. Even putting tropes aside and looking purely from a composition standpoint, you're watching a series of 8 second jump cuts spliced together. We've departed so far from how you actually experience reality that it would be nauseating to anyone not already accustomed to it.

It is. I'm statistically above average in most regards, yet it is not enough. The effort required to become a top 1% male is not worth the extremely mediocre pussy, doubly so knowing that they can just take half my stuff if they feel like it- and everyone knows *truly* how stable women's feelings are. I have lived in various states across the US (and even abroad) and it's the same everywhere. The fem race-to-the-bottom crosses language and culture barriers.

People who come to our beliefs generally find it impossible to make media that alludes to our beliefs without shoving it down the viewers throat. I feel apprehension when considering whether to introduce my brother to Murdoch Murdoch, for example, because even if it's good, it's *embarrassing* to enjoy.
I've been trying to curate stuff that's digestible to others. It's relatively easy to show someone old Sam Hyde stuff, or lend them Mike Ma's books, but beyond that everything else is non-fiction depresso posting.
