I’m about to start on estrogen (9 days!), and I’ve been told about the increased risk of blood clots and other undesirable effects. On the other hand, my PCP agreed that the dramatic changes I have already made in my transition (healthier diet, better self care, more physical activity, fat loss, lower blood pressure, etc.) more than outweigh the additional risk of the hormones.
But even if it didn’t, I will accept that risk in order to be myself and be excited to live, instead of pretending to be a man and giving up on life.

Because advertisements are evil. They are always at best distraction, usually manipulation, and at worst, oppression. If any instance ever starts running advertisements, I will instantly block it.
I live as ad-free a life as I can. Yesterday, while eating lunch on the outdoor patio of an otherwise lovely pub, the music on their speakers was interrupted by advertisements. I don’t remember what they were advertising for, as I have practiced the art of conscious inattention and non-remembering for just this occurrence, but they destroyed the pleasant ambiance that we were enjoying. It was the first ad I have heard or seen in a long time, and it was an imposition on my time and on my mindspace.
It grows increasingly more difficult and more expensive to avoid advertising. There are even advertising inserts in the renewal envelope from the state for my automobile registration!

Sure, but unwrinkle and iron are very high probability. In particular, articles about “how to unwrinkle” likely have an extremely high occurrence of ironing. The reason it is so easy to get LLMs to create hilarious responses is that there is no understanding or cognition there. But we humans can easily lead the LLM down the garden path by judicious use of context shifts that humans recognize but that lead spicy autocomplete models into bizarre responses. LLMs only sound intelligent when a human provides the intelligence in forming the questions.

The software doesn’t “know” anything. It is just billion-dollar, climate-destroying autocomplete, designed solely to produce plausible-sounding bullshit. Every single output is a “hallucination.” The human is hallucinating if they think the software is doing anything other than spicy autocomplete.

Thanks for the reminder to harvest the pears before they get mealy! I didn’t thin out the pears this year, so I got mostly smaller fruit, but they are delicious. Just need to go in the fridge to chill.

We need to all stop paying federal taxes and tell our state legislators to double our state taxes. Trump has made it clear that states are on their own. Okay, then. If the feds are not doing anything, we don’t need to pay them taxes. If even 5% of the population decides not to pay, the IRS would be overwhelmed.
Thinking further, let’s double the state tax rate only on those of us making above the median income in the state. Massachusetts needs a graduated and progressive income tax if we are not going to be getting help from the USA.

The more I think about it, the more I have to wonder: why do we even allow companies and governments to ask us about our “sex” or “gender”? Why is that something valid for them to ask us? Why would they need to know, unless they plan to use the information to discriminate against us? I am a person, a citizen of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and a citizen of the former United States of America. I’ll share my birthdate and place, and my parents birthplaces and citizenship status, as those are legitimate things they need to know to establish my citizenship.
Sex and gender questions though should be in the optional part of any form along with ethnicity, national origin, and race.
