So to be honest, I think I agree with what you’re saying here and it’s what I kind of expect. Primarily/at least in the United States. But that doesn’t change Bitcoin’s properties and different jurisdictions could have different ways of using it and will have different laws.
That being said, assuming you’re right, wouldn’t you agree it would still be smart to own a decent amount of it at least though ? I told you my primary goals. So for someone like me and my generation, why not keep some cash, own Bitcoin, and own some gold too maybe. Just trying to keep things practical for me instead of believing I will change the world.
When you say “controlled” I’m not entirely sure the exact way you mean the word. Other people are making it sound like there are puppet masters *literally* controlling Bitcoin but that’s not how it works. Do you mean influenced? Or controlled in the sense that Bitcoin’s popular use-cases will likely follow how the big players decide to use it? Even then, on the global level, people can still use it how they’d like and I think it’s a smart asset to own and self-custody.

That would probably be client dependent in this type of scenario. But again, that's fine because it demonstrates the openness of the protocol where any client can do whatever they want to do. I think it all comes back to having a wide plethora and wide variety of user choice. Why should what I say or what you say dictate what another user does or how I use another application or how the developer should build the application. I'm all for ultimate user choice and ultimate developer choice. Again, we should have a wide variety of literally everything. Don't get confused by my ramblings or have them be viewed incorrectly. I don't want censorship. I hate censorship but I think some people do and I think some developers do. So, if those clients existed then we will be able to showcase the versatility of Nostr. Do you understand what I'm saying?

The CVE-2026-65400 vulnerability affected the macOS screen-sharing feature. Macs exposing VNC port 5900 to the Internet could be compromised without authentication, allowing attackers to gain root access and install a Monero cryptocurrency miner without the owner’s knowledge.
Apple patched the vulnerability on August 6 with macOS Tahoe 26.6.1, Sequoia 15.7.9, and Sonoma 14.8.9, but the Dutch NCSC warns that attacks are already underway.
If your Mac isn’t up to date, you should install the patch as soon as possible or temporarily disable screen sharing.

I just think we need all sorts of clients. Ones that are wide open. Ones that give users a wide variety of control. Ones that filter, whatever you want to call it. Show the full demonstration of the protocol and give users the ultimate choice to what type of experience they would like to have. The more choices we have, the better.

theres clearly demand for Bitcoin exposure via ETFs etc. sure maybe those function similar to the gold markets as a hedge against inflation.

but none of that "adoption" has anything to do with Bitcoin as freedom money.
In the meantime, the assholes who run the banks need more assets to rehypothecate so they can keep the grift going. Bitcoin is perfect for them, another meme most people don't really understand they can sell as a "hedge".
So I don't understand the confidence of people who say "this was always the plan. freedom money is inevitable" It doesn't square up in any way I can see.

You don't have to use those clients or those relays. That's the entire point of Nostr. I'd like to see a client that censors and bans and essentially acts like Twitter or Facebook or Instagram, you know the standard stuff of legacy social media, just to show that nostr is censorship resistant and that you don't have to use clients that perform these types of actions.
