On my site I got as far as loading the messages on page load but not decrypting till you opened a message - it made sense on a web interface because it was unnecessary extra processing, when websites are running on very limited websocket connections. The next step would be only decrypting the specific message which is opened.

May just be simpler to figure out what I've done wrong with the strfy relay. It's odd, because I had to install a third relay, for testing chronicle and that works fine. I think my filter is probably fucked up.

Congrats - I'm still only just getting used to github. Never done a pull request or anything, yet. Curious about your WoT relay - atm I'm running my personal haven relay and a strfy relay for limited public use, but that's not working, so I'm considering getting rid. I'd be tempted to replace it with this, just curious how the WoT bit works.

Seen two videos of police behaviour here in the UK in the last 24 hours.
In video one, a man is dragged to the floor and punched, then the police charge in and slam him against a shop front. He reacts, assuming he's still under attack, by lashing out, then realises it's a copper.
In video two, two officers try to detain a man. In the "struggle", one of the coppers drops his extendable baton while trying to grab the man's leg. The chap manages to get the fallen baton, extends it, hits the cop grabbing his leg, twists around then smashes it over the face of the other copper who was trying to grapple him, sending him in a heap, straight to the floor. The man then moves towards the other copper, before jumping on his bike and making his getaway.
Both videos are utterly humiliating for a police service still under intense scrutiny for their abysmal handling of Henry Nowaks murder.
Something is desperately wrong with the UK, but talking about it can actually get you hounded by the cops, sidelined by employers and cut off from opportunity.
If it wasn't for my family, I wouldn't still be here.

Even if you were to remove the option from view, I found the other day that when a profile doesn't fully load (including a lightning address) amethyst now defaults to sendung on chain zaps. I'm not sure that's the best behaviour.

As far as I can tell, it's happening when I'm on any network - several WiFi points and two different mobile networks. I'd prefer to use tor when and where possible, if I can, but this might put me off. I wonder, could it be because I'm already running the phone through a VPN?

When I mentioned ditching the phone number to a couple of friends they're responses were, immediately, what if I need to get hold of you? What if it's urgent?
How did we cope before 1998?
I told them, nothing is so urgent that I have to be immediately contactable 24/7. My phone's been on silent for 25 years anyway.
The email address seems even more pointless. You give it out to companies for what...so they can bombard you with spam advertising, endless warnings etc.

Been contemplating what it might be like to get rid of the phone number and email address.
How much of a problem would it be? How much of a benefit?
Playing through scenarios and giving the idea more than just passing consideration.
Also contemplating ditching the smartphone entirely, though it is a useful device. That said, it can be run without a phone number and it doesn't have to be carried around, it could be left sitting on a desk like a computer probably should be.

That's the trouble, and yet, if you speak to them now, it's as if they never did anything wrong. Typo in my last post has been corrected btw. Funny thing is, even one of my closest friends honestly believed that if you didnt take the jab you should be locked out of everything. Even after I'd pointed out all the flaws in the deception, even after I'd pointed out how morally outrageous it was, she still believed. Terrifying.

Sat here, at the Hotwalls in old #Portsmouth relaxing, listening to the sound of the water lapping against the shoreline.
There's a few people out fishing, an old boy is standing in his shorts, ankle deep, enjoying the sensation of the cool water. A few young people are out, getting the sun, a family just strolled by, baby in the pushchair, making the most of the day. A young goth/emo couple just wandered by and stopped by the waters edge.
Every different kind of person, all out sharing the same public space, each enjoying it in their own way. No one's rushing, no one is hurried, it's all just...

I've got to figure my public relay out...I've got my haven relay and a public one on the same vps - haven relay, no issues, public relay, seems to gather events but doesn't display them. When I've had enough lounging in the sun I'll try and figure out why.

Just saw a post from a profile which hadn't loaded. Tried to zap them, zaps werent my default amount. Realised, Amethyst is defaulting to on chain zaps for accounts which havent loaded the LN address yet. Not sure that that's an ideal behavior, tbh.
Also, when I tried to tag in @nprofile…qaac their tag kept vanishing, the first time I tried to compost this message.

Interesting conversation with the boss the other day.
Part of the job involves community work. Not a problem. A few colleagues had been in situations where they didnt feel comfortable, so, under their duty of care, work brought a bunch of licences for an app which has a big red button to push in the event of emergency.
Great. Works by GPS. Very clever. Can't see me ever needing it, but still, it's there.
Other day the boss asks me to confirm some details for the app; no issue, till they wanted my personal phone number, my personal address and my personal email.
They don't need that. So I said no.
I was asked several times to hand over those details. They've got them, they could hand them over themselves, but they know they can't without my permission, which I'm refusing to give.
It makes me stop and wonder, how often do people just hamd over their data to companies they don't know, with no thought to how that data will be used or secured.
I don't think they're going to give me any grief over it - I mean, from a legal perspective, I'm not obligated, so technically, they can't. But they could start seeing me as a non compliant trouble maker and that could impact how I'm treated at other times, in theory.

Can you compressed the video before uploading? I think at least a couple of clients have integrated a compression tool for precisely this reason.
An alternative, if you can or feel inclined, is to set up your own Haven relay, which includes your own personal relay plus your own blossom media server.
I set mine up a few months ago and now I'm responsible for maintaining my media content. I know that if there's a problem with nostr build that not all of my media will vanish, though I still need to mirror all the content between my nostr build accband haven relay.
It is a bit of fluff and a degree of learning, but once your content is under your control, you can do as you wish with it, without worrying that someone else might remove it etc.

That's amusing - his name is made up of three parts there - any account with those last two parts is automatically blocked for me and for a great many people on nostr due to a spam attack a long time ago. Easiest way to get rid of it was to block accounts that use those two words in the name. Inadvertent self block event here.

Ah, I did wonder. I agree, in principle, that clients could be open to multiple payment types, but in reality people will build for the future they wan't to see. I've got no plans to add other payment types to my own client and I'm not inclined to surface notifications relating to them either.

So I set up the monero address via nosmero but it didnt appear in Amethyst. So I set it in Amethyst as well and went back to "delete" it from nosmero, but it didn't delete, it stayed there, so somethings not right somewhere.

First impressions;
It handled nip05 lookup up better than the bch client, but surprisingly returned old notes instead of a plain link to profile.
I decided to set up the old calendar wallet with a monero address and tried to add ot to my profile. I clicked save and it told me to enter a url in the website space - it had imported the info I have in that field but couldnt just save it without me adding https etc.
It also didnt contain a field for background image, so I wonder if successfully pushing a profile update from there would void my current cover image settings.
The 'following' feed yielded no results, as if I'm not following anyone and the profile view doesn't show follows or followers, so I wonder if it's even importing them lists or if it's going to nuked my current follows list when updating anything.
Zero feed loaded in the "popular" view either.
"Trending Monero" feed loaded after about 15 seconds.
Notifications failed to load.
In all, I'd say, it needs work.

Okay, I took a look, a couple of observations - nip05 lookup failed, while logged out and logged in to a throwaway account. That's fixable. I also noticed that on loading a profile it didnt load the follow list, took quite a while to load part of the followed by list and took a fair chunk of time to load the profile feed. All fixable but always challenging in a web client. I'm curious, the way that BCH zaps have been implemented, is it the same way on chain zaps have been implemented in to amethyst recently? Also noticed they're charging for a nip05. Fair play, I guess.

I'm still, years later, not sold on the use of smart contracts. That all aside, does this bch nostr site follow all the current nips for its functionality? As in, is it interoperable with the rest of nostr? Comments, reacts, follows, lists etc?

What new functionality are you talking about? NIPs exist that cover many things already, so will you be using existing NIPs, or are you talking about creating new ones? Since payments are only a part of what nostr does, apps can be agnostic about what payment options they provide.

That's not really how nostr works - one extra relay is great and all, but ideally as many people as possible will be running their own relays, in their own countries, decentralising the infrastructure as much as possible. Also, more clients means more ideas tested and more chance of growth in nostr.
