I'm reminded of this note again today as the state DOT decided it was for my best interest to install a giant fucking traffic sign directly outside the front door of my business, partially obstructing a charming hand-made, hand-painted (by me) wood shop sign.

You can always fake zaps by just paying someone to zap you. Proving that someone really sent you money is not solving anything. What are you even solving by putting it on chain?
I can spin up npubs and zap myself on chain, paying only the TX fee. So you still have to WoT the zaps, same as you are with private LN payments.

They don't have to publish anything, as these aren't zaps. They're simply payment addresses listed on the profile page. Individual clients can create handlers for them. Opening your Lightning, Monero or Tether wallet, directing you to CashApp's or BuyMeCoffee's website, etc.
What you don't get is a public zap receipt. But what a client could add is a DM receipt that the payer could send you, after they have confirmed the payment. Then they don't have to write "By the way, I sent you some Monero." in the comments. Then it is very private, but also social, and you get a chance to say, "Hey, thanks! 🤗 " or "Oh, there's something wrong, it didn't arrive. 🤔 "
