De politie heeft vier mannen opgepakt voor het drogeren, verkrachten en filmen van hun partners. Bij veel mensen roept het de vraag op of het wel zo slim is om als vrouw met je partner alleen te zijn.
“Wat deden ze daar zo laat nog? Waarom waren ze niet op een veilige plek? Het is inmiddels algemeen bekend dat een groot deel van het seksueel geweld zich achter de voordeur afspeelt: waarom hebben ze die dan achter zich dichtgetrokken?”, aldus vrouwveiligheid-expert Wilco Achterbeek.
“Je weet nooit wat je man ineens kan doen. Wel kan je er voor zorgen om altijd voorbereid te zijn.” Achterbeek raadt vrouwen aan om altijd pepperspray en een ‘rape whistle’ bij zich te dragen, en met bedekkende nachtkleding naar bed te gaan. “Wees extra behoedzaam op onveilige plekken zoals thuis, zoals plekken waar je partner aanwezig is. En neem geen drankjes van je partner aan ‘s avonds laat.”
“Die mannen hadden dat natuurlijk niet moeten doen, maar als vrouw had je ook rekening kunnen houden dat sommige mannen nou eenmaal niet uitblinken in zelfbeheersing.”
Wilco laat weten dat vrouwen altijd bij hem terecht kunnen.
