I actually said this exact thing to someone this morning. A military assault on Greenland would result in economic and trade sanctions which would kneecap the US economy very quickly. Staples like coffee, fruits, refined oil - would all skyrocket in price.
Greenland comes up every time there is some other horrendous news: Venezuela, ICE, etc… but nothing more ever happens after it falls out of the news cycle - until the next time it is dragged out.

I think the issue is that people don’t understand how they work.
At their core they’re pattern recognition machines. The more you use it, the more it mirrors your own patterns. You get out what you put in - sometimes without realizing they are your words. If I tell ChatGPT that it feels like “future technology” enough it will start to tell me that it’s from the future.
The wide availability of these tools to people that don’t fully understand them is causing a mental health crisis.

Much of Musk’s wealth is tied to his Tesla stock, as I understand it. Kicking him out of Tesla doesn’t take away his stock.
So, the best way to stop him from buying more elections is to drive the stock into the dirt. Ideally, Tesla should go bankrupt. (Though that’s highly unlikely)
My dream is that he comes to regret ever getting involved with politics.

I had tried to be the positive one up until 11/7/24.
Now I’ve realized that these people are determined to topple America and they’ll stop at nothing.
Historically speaking, when compared to Europe, we were due for this. The lessons these people took from history were how to subvert democracy, not protect it. Where we see a threat, they see an opportunity.
At this point I just hope it survives long enough that I can escape to a country that has some sanity left.

Trump says Jan 6 was “a day of love” all the time - yet he’ll also say people were “angry about the election.”
The “love” he is referring to is love for him. Not love for the country. Not love for their fellow Americans. Love for HIM. He focuses on that because it’s all that matters to him.

related - I had a “debate” with ChatGPT yestrdy because I asked about Trump’s criminality. It replied that the legal system has to be neutral and equally applied to all - talking about a political candidate might cause bias.
My stance was that not talking about celebrities (and wealthy) court records objectively makes them unequal.
That’s super brief summary, but in the end - I won. …For as much as beating AI counts.

But but! per the Supreme Court it’s not a bribe unless Trump paid him up front and specifically said “this is a bribe, see? I’m going to give you money and I will buy you cupcakes if you endorse me!”
Per SCOTUS, absent an offer of donuts it’s not a “bribe” it’s a “business agreement.”

I’m a gun owner.
I believe in and appreciate the rights afforded to us by the 2nd amendment.
Yet I don’t understand how any rational, empathetic person - let alone a parent - can listen to the stories of loss related to gun violence and not want to get on a chair and *scream* for stronger gun violence laws. It’s unfathomable to me.
If the GOP can take away your right to body autonomy, and suppress your right to vote - they can restrict the right to own firearms under red flag laws.

The Israel / Hamas conflict is a no win topic for the Dems because they don’t lie about what they’re doing.
If they speak out for Israel, then they are condoning genocide.
If they speak out for Palestine, then they are anti-Semitic.
If they try put global politics first by seeking a mutual peace accord - they piss off both sides.
The GOP will do and say whatever it takes to get elected knowing once they are in office it will be too late to do anything about their lies.
