good luck! I read that book a couple years ago and I clearly don't get what its fans see in it. by the time I got to the end all I could think about was that it was specifically designed to waste my time

I still sometimes look at hackernews headlines just to see what they're talking about over there, but I'm pretty sure that's no longer necessary

I've apparently been exceptionally lucky because I've only encountered bad RAM a handful of times, and I've had my hands in a *lot* of computers

Wikipedia sucks to contribute to if you're a newcomer. I gave up contributing to Wikipedia a long time ago because I tried to correct a typo and some editor who had apparently never come across the word 'assess' before thought I was writing 'asses' and defacing the page, so I got a timeout.
Maybe it's gotten better since then, but that incident killed any interest I had in contributing, and most of my interest in reading it

I remember liking VII, but not really understanding why everyone thought that it was the best game ever, which also might explain why I didn't dislike VIII as much as the VII-people did
I've heard lots of good things about IX, and I've been meaning to give it a try (I even picked up a copy a few months ago at the local used pop culture store). I tried to play X and it didn't do anything for me, so it made me hesitate

I'm not nearly as into the series as I used to be once the franchise moved to PlayStation and I was a diehard Nintendo guy.
I did eventually play VII and VIII on PC (before Steam was a thing) and enjoyed them well enough. Other than dabbling in the MMOs (XI and XIV), I hadn't played a mainline FF game since then (but I kept buying them as aspirational purchases because I keep thinking I have more free time than I actually do).
Last year FFXV was put up for free on PlayStation Network for subscribers, so I gave it a shot and enjoyed it, but it took me so long to get through it (because of time constraints) that I've hesitated going through the back catalog to see what I've missed.

I bought Final Fantasy XIV on launch day in 2010 and the game was so bad that after less than 10 hours with the thing, I logged off, canceled my subscription, and stopped keeping up with it.
Yesterday I decided to take another look at it.
Looks like the game has improved somewhat since then
