Even if it were the case that your definition of effective was accepted law, one wouldn't know whether one's circumvention research was legal in advance, as if the DRM is effective then the research wouldn't be legal, putting researchers in a legal bind.

Share of house purchases by first time buyers at lowest level since that was first tracked in 1981.
I am unclear what the median repeat homebuyer age means here. Does anyone know for sure? The linked article doesn't clarify. If Bob, age 60, buys 5 houses, does that put 60 on the list from which the median is taken one time (all five purchases are by Bob) or five times (once per purchase)? I am guessing the latter as it seems likely to be easier to measure.

cash, or something equivalent to it, allows for the distribution of enforcement of a certain level of truthfulness. Eg, lie about outputs, and can't deliver? Your organization doesn't get paid, and if it keeps that up, too much, too long, then it goes under. In the meantime it's incentivized to find out who caused the lie(s) and remove them from the system.
This sort of thing might work in the right socialist system, but not most of them.
