There are far too many billionaires and none of them are happy. This essay is the latest example.
The entire idea of a “family office” to manage your extreme wealth is a societal failure. (That said, if we do have family offices, seems fine for the dad to send his little nephew in to be a spy. Kind of goes with the whole family office thing)

Soon after the explosion in Rafah, I’m told by a source familiar, the White House and Pentagon knew that the incident was caused by an Israeli settler bulldozer running over unexploded ordnance — contradicting Netanyahu’s claim that Hamas had popped up from tunnels.
After Netanyahu said he was blocking all aid from entering Gaza in response, and unleashed a bombing campaign, the administration conveyed to Israel that they know what happened. Netanyahu then announced he would re-open the crossings in a few hours.

Extremely interesting admission from @npub1cpn…egw2 here: The key difference between a deal available in November 2023 v the one reached now is that in this one, Israel will get to occupy a portion of Gaza for some undetermined amount of time.
So, IOW, all those killed, including IDF soldiers, hostages, and Palestinians, died so that Israel can occupy a portion of Gaza for some continued period of time.
If you consider that a victory you have already lost all that is worth having.

Here’s what just happened: Trump sent a peace deal to Hamas, Hamas met to discuss it in Doha, where the U.S. is mediating talks and has a base, and Israel bombed them, presumably with US support.
The strike in Doha was aimed at Hamas negotiators who were gathered to discuss Trump’s ceasefire offer, according to a Hamas official speaking on Al Jazeera, much as Trump carried out fake nuclear talks with Iran in order to kill Iranian negotiators.
That might explain why Trump’s offer was so short and scant on details. The whole point was to gather people together to discuss the peace offer to kill then.
Israel is taking credit for the attack, citing 10/7, though most or all in Doha didnt even know about 10/7 until it happened.
IDF and ISA Announcement:
“The IDF and ISA conducted a precise strike targeting the senior leadership of the Hamas terrorist organization.
“For years, these members of the Hamas leadership have led the terrorist organization's operations, are directly responsible for the brutal October 7th massacre, and have been orchestrating and managing the war against the State of Israel.
“Prior to the strike, measures were taken in order to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and additional intelligence.
“The IDF and ISA will continue to operate with determination in order to defeat the Hamas terrorist organization responsible for the October 7th massacre.”

The IDF just finally acknowledged what we and others reported long ago, that Hamas did not kidnap the Bibas family, rather it was a faction that did not even have knowledge of 10/7 but took advantage of the chaos.
Full IDF statement here announcing the killing of a top Mujahideen Brigade commander:
Joint IDF and ISA Announcement:
The IDF and ISA eliminated the head of the Mujahideen terrorist organization who infiltrated Israeli territory on October 7th and participated in the abduction and holding of Israeli hostages
In a joint IDF and ISA operation, the terrorist As'ad Abu Sharaiya who served during the last years as the head of the Mujahideen terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip was eliminated earlier today (Saturday) in Gaza City. The terrorist infiltrated Kibbutz Nir Oz on Oct. 7th, 2023, was one of the leaders of the brutal massacre, and was directly involved in the abduction and murder of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas. Furthermore, he was involved in the abductions of the couple Gad Haggai and Judi Lynn Weinstein Haggai, and the abduction and murder of Nattapong Pinta and an additional foreign national who is still held captive by the terrorist organization.
As part of Abu Sharaiya's role, he was responsible for recruiting terrorist operatives in Judea and Samaria and in Israel, through whom he advanced and carried out terror attacks and terrorist activity. Throughout the war, the organization under his leadership was involved in orchestrating terror attacks against the State of Israel and in combat against IDF troops operating in the Gaza Strip.
In an additional IDF and ISA strike, the Mujahideen terrorist Mahmoud Muhammad Hamid Kuhail who infiltrated Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7th was eliminated. Throughout the war, the terrorist was one of the terrorists responsible for holding Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas captive in the Gaza Strip.
Mujahideen terrorists took a significant part in the murderous October 7th massacre. They were involved in acts of abduction and murder, despite not being aware of Hamas’s plans. Rather, they acted as an extension and utilized Hamas’s terrorist framework within Israeli territory.
The IDF and the ISA will continue to operate to locate and eliminate all terrorists from the various terrorist organizations who took part in the brutal massacre on October 7th and were involved in holding Israeli hostages in captivity in the Gaza Strip.

In the deal Hamas reached last week with Witkoff, they agreed to hand over governance of Gaza to an independent Palestinian technocratic committee.

As Ravid says, the NYT for instance went out on a limb, initially refusing to cover a massive story getting global attention because its sources in the IDF were telling the paper there was nothing to see. Then under pressure they finally ran a ridiculous he said/she said in which they professed to have forgotten how to do basic journalism and gave credence to the IDF’s absurd new addition to the lexicon of lies, that the ambulances were “advancing suspiciously.”
Even the Times now, which is 100% aligned with Israel’s war aims, will be at least somewhat reluctant to take the IDF’s word about the next massacre.
The effect of all this will only be felt long term.
