Extremely interesting admission from @npub1cpn…egw2 here: The key difference between a deal available in November 2023 v the one reached now is that in this one, Israel will get to occupy a portion of Gaza for some undetermined amount of time.
So, IOW, all those killed, including IDF soldiers, hostages, and Palestinians, died so that Israel can occupy a portion of Gaza for some continued period of time.
If you consider that a victory you have already lost all that is worth having.

Here’s what just happened: Trump sent a peace deal to Hamas, Hamas met to discuss it in Doha, where the U.S. is mediating talks and has a base,and Israel bombed them, presumably with US support.
The strike in Doha was aimed at Hamas negotiators who were gathered to discuss Trump’s ceasefire offer, according to a Hamas official speaking on Al Jazeera, much as Trump carried out fake nuclear talks with Iran in order to kill Iranian negotiators.
That might explain why Trump’s offer was so short and scant on details. The whole point was to gather people together to discuss the peace offer to kill then.
Israel is taking credit for the attack, citing 10/7, though most or all in Doha didnt even know about 10/7 until it happened.

I understand that Israel and its defenders are upset that a film about the murder of Hind Rajab and her family has been made and is apparently devastating to audiences.

The IDF struck a Reuters camera and killed their cameraman, Hussam al-Masri. The IDF then put out a statement saying they struck a "Hamas camera."
Reuters dutifully reported that claim in its headline as if it had any credibility at all. Reuters is quite literally willing to call itself Hamas if Israel asks it to.

The last time the WFP tried to deliver aid, on July 20, the IDF opened fire on aid seekers who swarmed the trucks, killing many. On July 21, they paused deliveries so as not to get more people killed by the IDF.

As Ravid says, the NYT for instance went out on a limb, initially refusing to cover a massive story getting global attention because its sources in the IDF were telling the paper there was nothing to see. Then under pressure they finally ran a ridiculous he said/she said in which they professed to have forgotten how to do basic journalism and gave credence to the IDF’s absurd new addition to the lexicon of lies, that the ambulances were “advancing suspiciously.”
Even the Times now, which is 100% aligned with Israel’s war aims, will be at least somewhat reluctant to take the IDF’s word about the next massacre.
The effect of all this will only be felt long term.
