I think that's a brave move to try to change a company's culture unless that's what you've been hired to do. That sort of thing has to come from the top down and there must be political will to change, especially if you're going against the trend . Most of the people I work with seem utterly sick of DIE and wokeness but just go along with it because it's a part of work and for the most part it's a mild annoyance rather than a real problem.
Here in Australia, you know that if you go into a meeting with the bigwigs there will be a formal acknowledgement of country where we pretend that the Aboriginal people have some sort of mystical timeless connection to land and the other bugbears of the day like getting more women into technical jobs. At day to day practical meetings all anyone cares about is meeting requirements and deadlines so that we keep getting paid. Politics is barely a blip. I don't even really care what the systems I design and build are used for, I care that they work and the client is happy. I won't do anything obviously questionable, I've turned down good money to build gambling systems, but most of the stuff I do is CRM related.

Yep. I think that talking politics at work has always been unwise, but in our highly polarised times and woke workplaces it's even more dangerous. Best to keep politics out of work. You can always join a political party, they organise a lot of social events and meetings.

I do software consulting and I own a small business. I absolutely get the need for focus. I often have my phone set on do not disturb, but I think there are too many inconveniences to not having one at all. I get a lot of communication on mobile, and increasingly I find I need it to do MFA.

The problem I see with Nihilism, the idea that life has no meaning, is that it can have very different results for different people. A creative person will invent a meaning for themselves and hopefully create a fulfilling life. A less creative person might get lost in the essential meaninglessness and become depressed, even suicidal, because it seems to be true that we fundamentally need meaning in our lives.
Religion and tribalism once solved that problem, because everyone around you had exactly the same meaning. The world is much more interesting but also much more complex to navigate now.

Yes, cultural fit is very important, and that is part of being the right person for the job. I won't accept a contract if I don't like the people I'm likely to work with. There's a question I love to ask the interviewer/s, "What do you like most about working here?" If they look at me like I just landed from Mars, then it's a good indication for me to walk away. If they love the question and jump to respond, then that is very positive.

I disagree strongly that wokeness levels the playing field. In theory, that's what it sounds like, and that's how the Left promotes it. In practice, it's intentional discrimination and bastardry of the worst sort. It's fundamentally nasty, a weapon to be used against one's ideological opponents. It's giving people jobs based on their skin colour and gender (immutable characteristics) rather than their ability to do the job and values (things which can be changed). Wokeness is straight up evil, no different to a deep south lynch mob from the depression era.

I've used AI for 2/3 of the things you mention (I refuse to do long wordy business emails). I find it a real time saver. I've also had AI build websites from scratch, which it does in seconds, and then tweak/edit as needed, so another big time saver.
All sets this a new baseline, so that your expected level of productivity will require use of AI and those that don't adapt it will be at a disadvantage.
I compare the nature of work now to how it was at the start of my career (last century) and the required level of productivity has gone up massively. That requires expertise with all the tools that makes that possible.
TLDR Choosing not to use AI will be like choosing not to have a mobile phone. Technically possible, but puts you at a disadvantage, plus inconvenience, so you'll use it.

In that sense, sure. Any discrimination other than on merit is distortion, and "levelling the playing field" is shorthand for that. After all, what happens on a playing field if not competition, hopefully based on merit only. You wouldn't watch a football match where one team was granted free goals for being "socially disadvantaged." That's not a real competition.

Yes. I think there's definitely a bubble. But like with the dotcom bubble of the early 2000s, the internet didn't go away, only the fake overvalued businesses without a revenue model. Right now AI is the Wild West with everyone having a go, but eventually there will be a consultation. Many operators will shut down, some will get bought, and then we'll have two or three big companies running the AIs. That's my gut feel anyway, that the end state will be an oligopoly, with state actors closely but probably covertly involved.

I'm not so sure that code can't create consciousness. We have only a rudimentary understanding of biological consciousness. While I don't think LLMs are conscious, I would not rule it out as an emergent property with further development.

I strongly believe in the level playing field so that the best players can win. That's an allegory for removing market distortions. I agree with you though that plebs are easily confused between opportunity and outcome. There is no natural or rational reason to assume an equality of outcome in any given competition, and life is just a series of competitions.

Someone like Hitler was interested in power over others, the opposite to self empowerment of the individual. He and his clique were master propagandists and borrowed heavily or simply invented any philosophy that aided their cause.
He personally knew the Germans were still living in mud huts while the classical and ancient civilizations were inventing civilization itself, but that didn't stop the Nazis from promoting the idea of the Germanic master race. It was complete fantasy but it served their purpose to unify the majority in their hatred of others.

Don't underestimate fear of the herd. The herd murdered people by the millions during the 20th century in the name of things like equality and fairness. People don't forget that in a hurry. It also plays on our tribal instincts to fit in with the group and fear of being outcast.
You can add to that mix the culture of societies that stick to a slave mentality which prioririses equality over exceptionalism. If your culture has a tall poppy syndrome or calls itself egalitarian then you can expect to be punished for conspicuous success. Don't stick your head out is the motto in such places.

I believe very strongly in the market of ideas. An important part of that is that there are no sacred cows, no topics or ideas which are above debate. The spotlight of debate is the best disinfectant and bad ideas should be defeated in the public forum by better ideas rather than being allowed to fester as doctrine or bad tradition.
This is our point of divergence with the Left, who interpret debate of already accepted ideas as heresy. It's why they get stuck with dysfunctional, contradictory, and blatantly ridiculous ideas like gender fluidity and open immigration despite all the evidence that it doesn't work or causes problems.
We don't do heresy. Everything is open to debate at any time. Better ideas can replace ideas which no longer work or don't work as well. It's why the Right remains dynamic and adaptive.

Our current civil conflict is mostly the clash between freedom vs equality. And by current I mean roughly since we got rid of feudalism.
I'm on the side of personal freedom. Individuals should be able to pursue their interests, to the extent of their talents, without interference from the mob. That will naturally lead to unequal outcomes but people are not inherently equal in interests and abilities anyway.
Much suffering has come from the idea of equality, especially in the 20th century where we piled up the corpses by the millions in the name of equality.
I'm all for equality of opportunity, which is another way of saying, get the state out of the way and end discrimination based on innate features (race, gender, etc). But equality of outcome is a deathtrap.

Yep. I like to remind people that the Bering Land Bridge was submerged 20,000 years ago, so that's how long the ocean has been rising due to warning.
The Sphynx has extensive water erosion because when it was built 4,500 years ago the Giza Plateau was a humid forest, not the arid desert that we see today. The Egyptians were not stupid settling there, it was fertile. That's how much climates change.

All human activity combined accounts for at most 5% of total CO2 emissions. The rest comes from natural sources.
Some will say that while the human contribution is very small, it has an outsized effect because it exceeds natural sinks, to which the answer should probably be finding more ways to capture carbon from the atmosphere, rather than making poor people starve to death for the climate project.
The idea that we can stop the climate changing is, however, hubris. The climate lobby conveniently ignores the fact that we have just left an ice age and the earth is warming up to its normal temperature, which the geological record suggests is about 10c warmer that it is today. IE. We are living in an abnormally cool period and it can't stay this way forever just because it suits us and we don't like change.

Voluntary contacts should be the basis of any rational society. They are based on the idea of positive sum games, where both parties to an agreement benefit.
The idea of positive sum games surpassed the idea of zero sum thinking, where one person one-ups the other, in many fields since the mid-20th century.
However, the Left side of politics, along with low trust societies, remain mired in zero sum thinking. You can see it in their class based view of society, where they're always trying to divide people up into oppressor and oppressed groups. The boss vs the workers, white vs black, men vs women, and so on. In low trust societies, you see it in the rampant short term thinking, I'll rob you today rather than trading with you tomorrow. It's a pointless exercise because in the grand scale of society everyone gets victimised but maybe you also have the opportunity to improve your lot in life.
That's why I prefer the idea of an opportunity state over a welfare state. I want the freedom and opportunity to create my own success through mutually beneficial relationships. That's the path of strength.

I think we've also been lazy and perhaps too soft hearted and let the Left take over our institutions which shape thought, education and mass media.
Some of us have realised that the mainstream media puts out fake news, and hopefully more will realise that mainstream schools and universities are putting out fake education. I hope the conservative revolution that we're seeing in some western countries grows, and countries which have been compromised by the Left (Australia, Canada, the UK, etc) come to their senses.
It's going to be a hard battle though. Historically the Left has been better at communicating because they offer simple sounding solutions while we offer hard objectivity. It's only recently that the Right has found some balls and a new generation of communicators that can get our message out. Charlie Kirk was an amazing orator and inspirer of people in that regard and a huge loss to our movement.

I'd rather a limited Democracy where the franchise is earned through some act of sacrifice which demonstrates that you're capable of putting the good of the republic above personal greed. Heinlein had the right idea with Starship Troopers (the book, not Veerhoven's parody). Service means citizenship. It's not a birthright.

Most branches of science seem to require objective, empirical evidence. Biology, chemistry , etc, reality either behaves in a certain way or get a better theory.

I generally disagree with Plato on his concept of ideal forms, and his belief that reason is the true part to knowledge. This brings up the whole reason vs empiricism debate. I think you need both, but without empiricism you can end up reasoning your way into all kinds of logical sounding dead ends.
It's the core problem we have in theoretical physics at the moment, which is pretty much all mathematical fantasy full of wormholes and parallel universes, none of which we have any empirical evidence for, they exist only on paper.
That's fine when it's an esoteric field like physics that doesn't practically effect most people (actually it does, we just don't notice it). It's not fine when it comes to our system of government, which can easily turn oppressive and definitely does effect most people.
And theirin lies the problem with the philosopher-king. Potentially great in theory, potentially terrible in practice and too difficult to change. Even worse when you consider the duality of human nature. I wouldn't trust myself not to become a tyrant in the pursuit of the "greater good" so why would I trust someone else?
I'm more a Nietzsche kind of guy. The highest mortality is to do good, be strong, be resilient, be someone that others can rely on. Stay away from the slave mortality of collectivism. Grass roots voluntary cooperation over top-down imposition.

Socialism is anti-thetical to the core philosophy of the Enlightenment and collectivism is just another name for all the rotten ideas that birthed socialism.
I 100% agree that it's the inept that love collectivist ideology because they're afraid to have to stand on their own two feet. It's the ideology of the weak. They turned opression into virtue. It's a sick inversion of the mortality of freedom, which values strength and competence and resilience.

The truth about the Gazans is that no Arab nation would have them voluntarily. Gaza used to be part of Egypt, and it still shares a border with Egypt, but Egypt renounced all claim to it years ago and wants nothing to do with what it considers a bunch of inbred militant cousins.
Similar story with Jordan and the West Bank. Only Western countries run by degenerate socialist governments obsessed with virtue signalling would let Gazans or West Bank Arabs in.

I don't know what holism -realism is. Color me old school, I believe in the sovereignty of the individual. We voluntarily cede some of that sovereignty to our social group to make civilisation work. It's a cost-benefit trade-off. When governments get onerous, then the trade-off is no longer in our favour and it's time to cast off the government and form a new one.

I have no problem with Nationalism, and in fact I think it's strongly preferable to both globalism and internationalism. Communities should ideally set their values according to what they believe, not have it imposed. However, there is no doubt that some communities are degenerate and therefore incompatible with civilised society.
For example, the Gazans. I would advocate that they need to be de-islamised and pacified, and that in their case it is logical for it to be imposed top-down by an external entity like Israel.
Just like we did with Germany after the Nazi period. They lost their way. The Allies rehabilitated Germany by de-nazifying and democratising it, and now it's a successful country excepting the latest problems with unsuitable immigration.

I think that the Enlightenment is the best set of principles we have come up with so far, and it's taken us thousands of years of civilisation to get here. Reason and logic over emotion, individual liberty, representative government, and tolerance. These are the values of Western civilisation that have made us so wildly successful. Just like Hitler's Nazi regime, Hamas has not held elections since gaining power, and has used torture and summary executions to maintain their stranglehold on power.

Nearly all boats in Hamas' Sumud Flotilla have now been arrested by the IDF with the remaining boats barely moving, according to the terrorists' own website.

That's decentralisation of power. It's what the Magna Carta achieved. So it was a stepping stone from absolute monarchy to democracy.
The more I consider it, the more I think that the vote should be earned to ensure that those who wield it use it responsibly. Perhaps earning it through military service or some other selfless form of service. Consider it merit democracy if you will.
