It's the classic slave/serf/peasant morality. Conformity, resentment. Make a virtue of your ordinariness. The alternative is the master/leader morality, which idealises strength, resilience, independence.

They're two fundamentally opposed systems of morality. One created by the weak, and one created by the strong. We've let the weak take charge and it's destroying our civilisation.
