To simply get a channel with 1m capacity you don't need $1000USD. Such a channel cost much less than $20USD from a LSP.
If you want to put $1000USD in a channel to be able to send $1000USD then you need those, yes.
Maybe Vox (npub1ma0…yclm) should say what she wants. because to me in this conversation we talked about a node that should run at home with LND to send/receive boosts.
