CloudFlare Streams has worked great for the live streaming projects I've been involved with. Some people self host Owncast to do their live streaming. I'm sure there's plenty of other purpose built services available as well.
Maybe it would be easier to let users integrate with these services rather than creating your own?

It should remain the same for that case.
The issue you would run into is a listener who has a Strike wallet tied to their podcast app. In that case, the payment would fail because you don't have an LNURL payment method.

It might be nice to add this to the PC20 spec. Basically have something that lets the podcaster decide which relay(s) to post boosts to. That could also solve the private boost issue if podcasters have a way to direct boosts to a private relay.
I think right now the app decides which relay(s) it wants to post the boost to instead of the podcaster.

The barrier is that it's no longer free. New users will probably go to the free options, like Fountain or Coinos. I think existing users will be split with some going to free options and others going to cloud-hosted Alby Hub or hosting it themselves.
There's still a barrier to entry for all of these services with the KYC nonsense.

I think you could have an "ask" in your P4P freemium model as well.
My main problem is the RSS paywall tag and the requirement that players implement the paywall.
Instead, I think the paywall needs to be implemented by your server using LSAT or some payment verification mechanism. Paid users get sent the content and unpaid users do not.
You could have tags that say how to talk to the server, but you should assume that tags can and will be ignored by some players.

You can get the real lightning address and custom key/value by going to the .well-known of the user you're interested in: https://getalby.com/.well-known/keysend/ericpp
For Alby Hub, the lightning address is the pubkey of your node, custom key is the standard 696969, and custom value is the ID of the connection/wallet in the hub.

Not yet. Alby Hub uses the standard Alby APIs and NWC for interfacing with it. Helipad currently only supports LND, though I want to add support for others.
I think Hub uses LDK by default, but I think you can choose different backends: https://blog.getalby.com/the-6-different-lightning-backends-for-alby-hub/
It might work if you set it up with an LND backend and point Helipad at it.

Cascade tells it to apply actions on the parent table to child tables. For example, if you deleted a feed out of the feeds table, it would cascade that action down to any table that has feed_id as a foreign key (e.g. feed poll rolls, feed value tags, etc).
It's to avoid the case where you've deleted a feed_id from the feeds table, but other tables still reference that feed_id.

The accounting for streaming sats is done every second, but presumably you're not sending out payments every second. You could batch those up and send them out every minute or 5 minutes or at whatever cadence makes logistical sense for your application.
With the adoption of LNURL and Bolt12 discussed in the last PC20, it might make sense to send at a less frequent cadence to allow more time for invoices to be generated and returned back.

I sent it through CurioCaster and it seemed like it did send the payment out.
Maybe some of the splits didn't get sent or maybe the TLVs got dropped? The browser extension stopped showing TLVs once I switched to Hub so I can't tell which is the case.

And actually with IoC, you don't even need to request it. You just need to have your controller function list the API class as a parameter and Laravel is smart enough to use the AppServiceProvider logic to instantiate the class and send it to your function.

I'm no expert, but I usually put most things into the controller.
In my head, the model is for logic to store data and enforce business rules, the view is for logic needed to render the page, and the controller is the rest of the stuff to handle input and make the model and view talk to each other.
For API calls, I usually create a class and put the instantiation logic in the AppServiceProvider. You can then request singletons/instances from the provider in the rest of your code.

The platform subscription model is less sustainable. Talk to any of the musicians now doing v4v and they will tell you that Spotify pays them $0 for their music. Some of these artists have millions of plays and have received nothing for them.

I think Podping is a better solution. You put all the changes on a distributed ledger and anyone who is interested can subscribe to the ledger.
The solution they recommend seems to require a server that has to go out and notify each subscribing aggregator separately of every new change.

Seems like a lot of mobile screens are greater than 550px nowadays (at least according to the Chrome inspector).

I guess Mutiny Wallet is another option.
It uses a Fedimint eCash system which is like a less centralized custodial wallet. You pick a mint to hold your sats, it issues eCash notes for your sats, and you exchange the notes for sats when you want to use them. We could in theory create our own Podcasting 2.0 mint for people to use https://fedimint.org/docs/GettingStarted/Why-Fedimint
I'm not a huge fan of this idea since it's still custodial and adds another layer to an already complex Bitcoin/lightning system.

For example, I just listened to The Knuckledragger album by Them Teeth which has Hammslamm, Whitewash, and Packin' A Rod as tracks. It auto boosted Whitewash after Hammslamm ended, then Packin' A Rod after Whitewash ended, and then Packing' A Rod again after that song finished:

What are you looking to do? I think Adam mentioned on PC20 about having a list of boosts on a page, which is definitely possible. The scoreboard right now receives all the boosts and totals them to generate the top score list.

Alby (and now Helipad) send webhooks to its API whenever a boost comes into my node/wallet. The code runs on a free Vercel instance, is backed by a free Supabase database, and uses Nostr as a dumb notification system to push new boosts to the user. That part could just be replaced by a websocket server if desired.

I haven't had any ideas so far on the stream overlays. I think at minimum we want a leaderboard that shows the list of artists and sats earned and we probably want the boost alert I showed off last week.

That's my general idea is to have groups of people boosting to get their favorite artist to the fancy top spot.
Showing the top boosters for each artist shows you who you need to collude with to get it there. We could maybe put the top boosted message for each as well.

A fee split of 1% should work in most cases. I think some players drop split payments that calculate to < 1 sat so you might need to bump it higher if you want to see those.

Helipad is just using the standard LND gRPC API to get node info, balance, invoices, and payments. It checks the invoice and payments on a timed loop and parses and stores any new incoming or outgoing boosts that it finds. The webhook code I added basically just forwards a copy of those parsed boosts to an HTTP endpoint of your choosing.
