2 questions:
1) a noticeable gap has recently appeared before each clip, when I hit the button, even if the front of said clip is trimmed to a hair's width. What happened, and how do I fix it?
2) HOW does Adam do those instant replays? Like when the stream gets wonky and Adam just says, "ok take it from here" and replays to that exact point in the conversation. Is he just a wizard? Or is there a special secret?

I'm obviously no tech wizard, but I’m also not trying to summon lightning. (Just the NODE!) I’m just trying to find ONE screen that looks like the guide says it should. Instead, everything shape-shifts the moment I look at it. It’s like my computer is auditioning for experimental theater. I’ll get this sorted eventually, but goodness, this journey has... personality.

Yeah, I had to give them up when I was pregnant and it just stuck. For the most part. This still happens occasionally though... This was my 55th birthday in August.

1) Thank you for your compassion. It's one of the nicer things about the left, when it doesn't go off the rails to the point of pathology.
2)Adoption is sweet and all, but it doesn't fill the deep biological need for one's actual genetics to carry on after one dies. For men, if assured paternity wasn't an issue, marriage would not exist as an institution. It's a fundamental drive. We WANT our own babies, grandies, and so forth.

You nailed it. You advocate for "Socially nicer but also more laid back". That's where I feel like the left has lost its dang mind. You cannot be nice and laid back when that means losing the hope of grandchildren to people who cannot figure out that sex is biology, and that it is the duty of every generation to produce and raise the next one; when these "socially nice and laid back" people challenge and disrupt something as basic as SEX. I agree! Casual sex is destructive. It took a long time and a lot of real pain to figure that out.
I just don't think abortion should be an issue. A TEENSY bit of REAL education would make it a non-issue. We don't have to have babies we don't want, and it not difficult or expensive and it doesn't require crossing state lines.
IGNORANCE led us here. Both of the benefits of morality, and the relative ease of early abortion.

We don't really need anyone's permission. We have our women's ways. You can have a seat in the corner, Sir. We'll call you when we need you for manly things, like protecting and providing, if you're still manly enough to do that.

Yeah, I get it. I was just all triggered because we often encounter certain assumptions when he's always driving a high-end classic that looks like it came off the showroom floor.
Case in point: Sir restored a stately Mercedez Benz and when he drove it to church, they asked him to be on the building committee. 🙄
I understand that stereotypes exist for a reason. When you're an outlier, you're bound to get a little annoyed with it, though.

Does anyone know why Audacity just... changes stuff sometimes? Like your clip boundaries? Or why it just sometimes decides to delete your undo/redo history before you're done with it?
I understand there will be many people who advocate for a paid service, but I'm already hemorrhaging too much money for this hobby. I don't think I can do another subscription and still support the shows from which I receive value.

Good points. I'm pretty resilient that way, actually. I can initiate conversations easily and don't get butt hurt if someone doesn't want to talk. That's not why I don't really go out.
My husband is a field service engineer, and we travel to his field at least half the year. We aren't home. I'm in hotels and on freeways and in restaurants all the time out of necessity. So when I'm home, I'm HOME. Peopled out. But still disconnected.
Take a walk, huh?

True. I'm a terrible homebody. I built a home gym so if never have to leave for exercise. But this little street has people walking dogs and such all the time. I COULD force myself to go for walks in lieu of trying to find a whole community in one building. That's probably a better answer.

So what do you do connect with your local community? I mean, the podcasting community is great, but I'm disconnected from my NEIGHBORS. And I travel at least half the year, so volunteering or joining an arts council type thing doesn't work.

Prayer is a messy business. Unless it's scripted for the purpose of reflecting on the script, as in the Lord's Prayer. I no more want to hear another person's prayer than I want to see him or her in any other deeply personal endeavor. And I certainly don't want to been seen in such a vulnerable position.
Public prayer is fake and not the real struggle with God of which prayer honestly consists. It's a stage performance. It disgusts me, I'd rather see someone jack off, and that's ick.

I just realized something HUGE.
I thought I wanted to try to find a church, if it wasn't too dogmatic, for the purpose of establishing community connections. There's one not far from the house, and they podcast their sermons. So I listened, to ascertain whether or not this might be a good fit. That's the setting.
First thing the pastor does is pray. In public. To me, you might as well be masturbating in public. It's PERSONAL. It grosses me out. I'll never have a church.

If it sounded like an indirect insult to men, it was because it was in response to a direct insult to women. The guy who blocked me was basically saying women just use the state to coerce men into supporting them financially. He was pretty much calling us all manipulative, scheming sluts with no genuine love for our husbands. A guy who walks around with that attitude isn't likely to find a woman worth loving, physically or otherwise. But, yeah, I got my knickers in a bunch.

I ordered a bra on Amazon. (Don't judge. I live in Alaska and I hate clothes shopping.) The tag on it said "This is not a bra." Well wtf is it then? A hat? A truck? A chihuahua? Because I ordered a bra.
It actually turns out to be a good bra, and I ordered 5 more, but that is a terrible marketing decision. Or maybe everyone really is trying to rip out the structure of reality by stating that a thing is not what it is.

By now, I suspect they never will. I'm as okay as I'm gonna get, I guess. Counting blessings. Podcasting for a better place to focus. It's really the best I can manage.

I actually bought one for my daughter the last time I had all my kids together 3 years ago.
The camera was bad enough, but the film for it was outrageous. I knew it was a one-time-only toy for the party. Don't think I'll do it again, though.

This assumes that just because you and your friends don't form governments with militaries that the group over the ridge won't. Groups will ALWAYS form, leaders will ALWAYS emerge, and there will ALWAYS be conflict.
What you are suggesting will turn into "might makes right". And, eventually, people form tribes/gangs who will do/take whatever they desire because what are you gonna do about it?

Not suddenly disappear, no, but certainly deteriorate without adequate funding. I do not for one second believe people will voluntarily fund it all. Not the ones alive nowadays, anyway.
You are correct that much is privately provided, but, crucially, publicly funded.
An unincorporated region that is not sovereign, even if it could maintain equilibrium, would soon be annexed by surrounding states if it had desirable resources.
Different era, different rules.

That's a mighty lotta faith in human nature to think you could have book club or sports league level cooperation in a group large enough to provide for things like public works and transportation. And unions aren't always voluntary, unless you're willing to say workers are free to not get a union job. Businesses might be an okay model to start from, but that looks kinda statist with radical capitalism. This server LOL!

Again, with all its evil, statism is the alternative to globalism. Those are your realistic choices. Anarchy is not an option. Groups will always form, leaders will always emerge, and there will inevitably be conflict. That combo naturally evolves into a form of statism. Ideally, states would be small and not too powerful. I think centralization is more the problem than statism.
