People don’t appreciate the historical context. Many of the violent swings after the war were because of trade/reparation (re)negotiations between Germany and Britain/France. People would speculate based off them. Sometime the deals would be looking good, but then fail, and vice versa. In my short life I've learned that what is good for me I don't want to do.
Work hard, eat healthy, save money, all suck.
I think a lot of people conflate optimism with "I get everything I want" (which will destroy you) instead of "I'm going to live a challenging but fulfilling life that will make me a better person.
