In 2 days it will be Nymchat's 1st birthday. For an entire year I have been building nonstop. Refactored the entire app's UI/UX, rolled out so many features it's hard to keep track of them all, and eventually built a native Android and iOS app. Just look at the original versus today. The environmental case asks:
How much water?
How much electricity?
How much land?
How much pollution, heat and noise?
The socioeconomic case asks:
Who pays for the grid?
Who absorbs higher utility costs?
Who receives the subsidies?
How many permanent local jobs justify the infrastructure?
The cultural case asks:
What happens when communities, landscapes and local sovereignty are reorganised around machines whose appetite for computation has no natural stopping point?
And beneath all three sits the mathematical question:
What exactly are we buying with the next megawatt?
Probability can become better calibrated. Models can become larger. Error rates can fall.
But scale alone does not make probability converge to truth.
There is no theorem saying:
«10× the compute → 10× the truth.»
And therefore no intrinsic moment at which a stochastic architecture announces:
Truth achieved. Extraction complete. Stop building datacentres.
That is the vulnerability.
More GPUs demand more power.
More power demands more infrastructure.
More infrastructure demands more land, water and capital.
Yet the epistemic output remains probabilistic.
This is where ECAI has to win experimentally.
Not by asking society to believe another AI narrative, but by demonstrating a different computational proposition:
bounded computation, verifiable state, deterministic invariants and measurable resource efficiency.
Every environmental challenge.
Every zoning dispute.
Every electricity hearing.
Every water fight.
Every nuisance case.
Every demand for community consent.
They all eventually converge on one question:
Does the public cost of another datacentre produce a correspondingly verifiable increase in truth?
If hyperscale stochastic AI cannot answer that question, the extraction model becomes harder to defend.
The future of AI may therefore be decided somewhere unexpected:
not inside the largest datacentre,
but in the courtroom where someone finally asks the machine to prove what the next megawatt actually buys.

I think if I were to start a school, I would have the students create an anonymous #NOSTR account, and have them start posting about what interests them.

Then the entire purpose of the school is to help the students progress and get better at what interests them.
