My primairly goal is just to observe and listen to their concerns and problems which they are trying to address in a more broader perspective. Where possible, I'll try to envision bridges. I don't expect there will be much talking about solutions (and trade-offs).

I mean businesses run their own servers all the time. If not usually a VPS. With relay tools you can use whitelisted Npubs, IPs and all sorts of private hosting options. The key pair is just an easy cryptographic login system. Everything else just integrates your business Npub with Nostr for ease of accessibility.
So, overall I disagree but it would heavily depend on the structure of the business in general to know how to apply it to Nostr.

I am not building a business on nostr because I don’t trust any random free relay to host my data (publicly I might add) and I don’t want to run my own relay. Also there’s no easy password recovery.
Centralized solutions work and specialize in infrastructure, backups and privacy.
Until nostr solves for this it’s not a viable alternative for building a business on top of this protocol.

I think that's unfortunate there is so much confusion about what silent payments is and what it can/can't do. It's about making address reuse not only undesirable but outright *impossible*, and doing it with good UX otherwise it won't catch up.
What it's not doing is magically making you immune to other chain analysis heuristics, spyware, surveillance etc.
That may sound underwhelming but address reuse is the one, single worst offender about bitcoin privacy. Solving that is maybe not enough, but it's absolutely necessary if we want to achieve acceptable privacy at some point.
We will still need some kind of coin history obfuscation, something like coinjoins. And also getting people out of exchanges and other KYC services would help a lot.
As for the scanning server seeing your outputs, it's exactly the same privacy model as electrum, and the good thing is that you have the choice, you can use another wallet that relies on blindbit like @nprofile…39uj, scanning happens client side so slightly more bandwidth/cpu cost for you, but the server doesn't learn anything.
