Prompting sound effects for my game has made me appreciate sound design a bit more, especially in all the games that I used to play as a kid. you don’t think about it, but many of the sounds we hear in games and movies don’t actually exist, or are so imperceptible that we wouldn’t hear them naturally, but they’re created for the immersive feeling in the game or the movie. For example, when people are fighting in a martial arts sequence, we may sometimes hear their arms make sounds as they make contact, but in reality you wouldn’t hear any of that. Or in the game, where the bow strikes the ground after missing - you normally wouldn’t hear that. A sound designer created that to indicate that you missed a shot. It’s a fascinating artistic field that we don’t think about much because it feels so natural when you hear it, yet it’s very unnatural. LLMs make it easier, but nothing is quite as satisfying as the real thing. A perfectly captured sound is so good to the ear, you want to listen to it over and over.
I doubt it. The quality of science and tech degraded to pure exteriority. Things look nice but do not work and do not last. Keeping science and medicine under control is like riding a wild horse. Cannot be done without serious precision and expertise.

A new telescope has been launched into space to study the universe. The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (RST) has the same size main mirror as the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) but sees 100 times more sky during each snapshot. This is possible because when compared to HST, RST's main mirror is more curved , its secondary mirror is closer, and its main camera is larger. The result is that RST can inspect more of the sky more quickly, likely allowing, among other capabilities, the discovery of many more supernovas which tell us more about the expansion rate and composition of our universe , and many more planets orbiting other stars that tell us more about the possibilities for life elsewhere in the universe. RST will orbit the Sun , not the Earth, like the James Webb Space Telescope . The featured video shows Roman being launched yesterday from Kennedy Space Center , Florida , USA aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.
