I'd say I'm always ABDL as a primary thing, and then other secondary things get added on top of that, and those cycle around. But the bab part is always there as the base for everything else!

yeah, just my thought was that most of this talk of switching to Linux is to get away from the Microslop enshittification of Windows, and if you end up installing and running Windows anyway, that sorta defeats the purpose. It's all still there, even if some of it is hidden.
Does your WinBoat still want you to sign in with a Microsoft Account and turn on OneDrive and bug you about Copilot and using Edge?

counterpoint: the kids these days barely even know what a computer is, they grew up on phones and tablets. So not being able to mess with the OS and only getting apps from the App Store is what they're used to!

weirdly, as someone who mostly prefers MacOS and dislikes Windows, I dont follow the adage of "KDE is for Windows users and GNOME is Mac-like", because I also find KDE far superior to GNOME xD

my experience with Bazzite has been that it occupies a weird space on either end of the spectrum, but not so great in the middle.
What I mean is that it can work pretty well for a beginner who doesn't need or want to touch anything under the hood. The atomic system and containerization of everything can help keep users from breaking things, as long as their needs don't extend beyond what's available in flatpak, brew or distrobox. Which honestly for most people is fine.
Where it falls down is the middle, "power user" space. The ones who would want to tweak a few things here and there, but can't. And who aren't really dedicated Linux nerds to the point of wanting to learn how it really works enough to get around it. They just want to be able to do the thing and not deal with jumping through hoops. Hi, I'm thinking of you @npub17yw…wx0a :3
But then on the other end of the spectrum, if you really *are* a Linux nerds, then digging into the gritty details of exactly how an atomic image with composed overlay FS layers works is kinda fun! But if you want your OS to be a project in and of itself, then you're probably running Arch already anyway :p

Yeah, Bazzite was certainly a novel experience. Not only have I not used any Fedora or RPM-based distro before, I hadn't really dealt with Flatpaks and AppImages and all the modern containerized formats that are required on an Atomic base system.
I'm getting a decent sense for how to use all those layers of the stack tho, so it's been fun to play around with and learn.
KDE Plasma seems to give me all the desktop and window manager UI customization I want, not sure what else I'd get out of any of the "more customizable" distros from a theming perspective. Garuda does sound nifty overall, if you're a cool Arch kid ;)
At the end of the day, what you come to learn is that all Linux distros are more alike than different, and they're mostly just tweaking some settings around the edges with defaults you can set yourself anyway.

Look here ya young whippersnapper! I was running Ubuntu back in 8.04 when Compiz was the shiny new thing! Dual booting school library computers! :p
My only problems with Bazzite are the ones I cause myself, like changing the default login shell to zsh which they explicitly tell you not to, and then getting shocked Pikachu face when environment variables like XDG_DATA_DIRS break and all my flatpak apps disappear xD
(The solution is just put 'source /etc/profile' into '~/.zprofile' to let it inherit all the system bash stuff)

Again, that's ironically what I hear most people complain about with Apple Misic compared to Spotify, is that it's not discovery-recommendation focused *enough*. It largely is focused on your library, and still clearly shows its iTunes roots. Which is why I like it! But weirdly lots of people say they prefer Spotify's more algorithmic approach...

As someone with a Plex server with exactly one album on it because I can't be bothered to know what music I want ahead of time to go get it and put it on before listening, I understand.
To answer the actual question Gale, I'd say Apple Music is the least enshittified streaming platform, and while they're not perfect, Apple is overall probably the least unethical tech company still...

my Proxmox server mostly gets used for Plex these days, and it's pushing 20 TB. I need to tell Sonarr to stop getting Blu-ray rips of TV shows that are 10GB per episode...
I like good quality but even so that's a bit excessive for all but the most prestige content!
I keep thinking I'll put the file server NAS container side of things to good use like archiving bab content, but then I just never get around to actually doing it!
But anyway yes hi, I have a Proxmox server rack on a symmetric gigabit fiber connection, and I'm not afraid to use it!

I was never the kind of terminal greybeard that has my shell config super customized or anything...
But I do always add at least one mandatory alias to my environment. "ll='ls -la'". It's the most correct way of displaying files, and I almost never use regular ls. ll is more fun to type too! ^_^

if ICE wants to declare war on immigrants, then so be it. Just don't act surprised when they get armed and start shooting back.
That goes for basically every agency of this government and every group they're fighting. If they're that eager for a civil war, might as well give it to them.
The irony of course is the people pushing these policies are the same second amendment supporters who say they need their private arsenals to fight off "the government infringing their rights", but they never expect the *actually* oppressed groups to do the same...

Hung out with @npub1704…pej5 for a bit, who did my badge back at ANE '19! :3
Went to the AD 18+ Outer Limits Night Market / Nightclub. Was more of a kink-friendly space than I expected at a general furry con. There was a whole pup mosh / play pen area where you could watch drag shows from! ^_^
Why did nobody tell me this is what nightclubs were like, I might actually go to them! xD
Then headed off to a babyfur room party where I somehow knew the majority of the babs there. Did I somehow become popufur at some point? O.o

The only thing I know about that movie is when I was a kid, my A/V Home Theater nerd Dad used it as his calibration benchmark to test out how good a system was xD
