“Americans are suffering under crippling inflation, and the Federal Reserve is to blame,” said Rep. Massie. “During COVID, the Federal Reserve created trillions of dollars out of thin air and loaned it to the Treasury Department to enable unprecedented deficit spending. By monetizing the debt, the Federal Reserve devalued the dollar and enabled free money policies that caused the high inflation we see today.”

A Bitcoin user filed a lawsuit against LastPass, claiming that over $53,000 of his Bitcoin (BTC) had been stolen as a result of the breach.
According to the filing, the plaintiff had stored his Bitcoin seed phrase inside of a LastPass vault, which was stolen and decrypted by the attacker, allowing the attacker to drain his Bitcoin account.
Some crypto users rely on 1Password to store backup copies of wallet seed words, private keys or exchange passwords.
Storing seed words or private keys on a password manager can be risky. In December 2022, password manager LastPass revealed that its servers had been breached and some customers’ encrypted vaults had been stolen.

Interest Payments On US National Debt Will Shatter $1,140,000,000,000 This Year – Eating 76% of All Income Taxes Collected!!! #GotBitcoin #bitcoinfixesthis
The vast majority of Americans’ income taxes are now being swallowed up just to pay interest on the country’s national debt, new numbers show.
Economist E.J. Antoni reports that based on the Fed’s June numbers, interest on the national debt is the equivalent of 76% of all personal income taxes collected by the government.
“Interest on the federal debt was equal to 76% of all personal income taxes collected in Jun – that’s the Treasury’s largest source of revenue and three-quarters of it gets consumed just by interest; does Congress know? Do they even care?”
Antoni says the cost to service the federal debt has exploded 33% in a single year, and set to get worse.
The economist also reports that interest on the national debt was the single biggest expense for the government in June, far outrunning other critical public services, and the Treasury expects it will break the $1.14 trillion level this fiscal year.

CoinShares revealed a market buying opportunity amounting to $398 million in inflows for Bitcoin in the last week.
The July 8 report also highlighted an inflow into Bitcoin (BTC) amounting to $398 million. According to CoinShares, the weakness of Bitcoin prices, alongside activity from Mt. Gox and selling pressure from the German government, were the likely causes of investors’ buying sprees.
Mt. Gox’s creditors have seen the value of their BTC increase by over 8,500% since the exchange’s demise.👍🏿🤩😎
Inflows were primarily seen in the United States with $384 million, followed by Hong Kong ($32 million), Switzerland ($24 million) and Canada ($12 million), whereas Germany saw $23 million in outflows.

Redditors Fed Up With ‘BS’ Surcharges Call Out More Than 200 La Restaurants For Extra Fees
Users on Reddit are fed up with surreptitious surcharges at restaurants — and have begun crowdsourcing a list of Los Angeles eateries that tack on additional fees.
So many responses poured in that the list was compiled into a public Google spreadsheet that has nearly 250 entries in a subreddit called r/LosAngeles.
In Pasadena, Agnes Restaurant & Eatery adds a “4% Healthy LA” fee to all dine-in checks to help pay for workers’ health and wellness benefits.
The Redditors’ spreadsheet even includes a photo of a receipt from the restaurant, which notes that the 4% surcharge “is not gratuity” and can be removed upon request.
The spreadsheet notes other restaurants’ reasons for their respective surcharges, which range from add-ons to subsidize employees’ healthcare benefits to a “kitchen appreciation fee.”
Another photo of a receipt from The Albright, a seafood spot on the Santa Monica pier, shows that an obscure 10% fee was added to the Redditer’s check, though there’s no reasoning behind it.

Bitcoin Mining Stabilizes Power Grids Strained by AI Data Centers
Microsoft is building huge AI data centers in Arizona and Wisconsin to provide the infrastructure for powering this transformational technology. And AI is hot — literally.
Such data centers put a severe strain on power grids by requiring vast amounts of electricity. By 2026, one estimate forecasts AI will consume about 40 gigawatts (GW) of the projected 96 GW in global power demand from data centers, up from a total demand of 49 GW in 2023.
This energy use generates a lot of heat and requires a lot of water to cool down data servers. With an estimated usage of 56 million gallons of water a year from Microsoft's data center in Goodyear, Arizona alone, the local desert communities risk running out of water to accommodate their new power hungry neighbors.
On the other hand, while often criticized as an “energy hog,” Bitcoin mining is actually an amazing way to help make power grids more stable and efficient. This is due to a Bitcoin miner’s ability to adjust energy usage in near real-time.
