I was with you on that until about a year ago. I left UA in 2011 for that reason. I can only judge by international and in the past couple of years UA has absolutely upped its game. Polaris is damned good. OTOH even Condor business class puts LH to shame.

So here we are 45 minutes after landing and Lufthansa, the national flag carrier, on a flagship route from JFK to Munich, is relegated to a satellite terminal requiring passengers to take a train and a bus then walk about 700 meters, only to find that their baggage had not yet even begun its journey. The national shame that is Lufthansa knows no depths.
