Had my gym photoshoot yesterday! It was hard work 😅
It was a good choice to close off the 3 month cutting phase with this shoot. It’s gonna be a cool thing to look back on later, “wow I did that”
The photographer was awesome! Super clear instructions. Also a metal head so we listened to melodic death metal the entire time.

hmm wonder if I fucked it up myself.
I put on hand cream 2 hours ago. I washed my hands a few times with soap between now and 2 hours ago, but perhaps residue of the fatty cream made its way onto the paper, causing this?

To my surprise, Diamine ink is behaving oddly on Midori MD paper. It randomly is not putting enough ink on the paper. I have not seen this behavior with this pen and ink combo on any other of the papers that I use (Rhodia, Clairefontaine, Field Notes, TRP)

I feel sorry for the people who outsource their writing to “AI”. They will never discover the true value of what writing has to offer: debugging yourself, structuring your thinking, letting your messy thoughts emerge from the depths of your brain, to name a few things.
Even sadder is when people say “I am bad at writing so I use the AI”.
Practice is where the value is! No one is suddenly good at anything! Please, allow yourself to mess up, make mistakes and discover things!

Nothing fancy but it was cathartic to write this down after today.
Really fighting feelings of overwhelm this week. I have so much to do. 😩
The solution is there. I will not work my IT job on Thursday so I can focus on the tasks that are now piling up.
Knowing myself I’ll still be bothered by the tasks existing tomorrow, but this is the only reasonable solution I see. Not gonna burn myself out working every evening.

I'm a bit tired of all my fountain pens at times, except the Lamy 2000. It's the only pen in my collection that reliably gives joy.
The nib has the best feel, writing is comfortable, and it's so convenient that the cap doesn't need screwing on, but clicks back into place.
I also enjoy the basic look of it.

Can’t wait to test all these papers!
I did a feel test already, and the last paper *feels* like it’s going to be a disaster with fountain pens so that makes me extra curious.
I want to make a video when I’m testing these (relaxing / calm style).
What should I do in my tests?

All pens I will bring on my 2 week travel.
TWSBI Diamond 580 iris filled with Yama Budo.
TWSBI Eco with Chiku Rin
Kaweco Sport with the unnamed blue ink.
Jinhao 82 with Sailor Manyo Ume.
Lamy Studio with Kon Peki.
This should tie me over for 2 weeks, never mind that the 2 TWSBI’s alone are months of writing to empty for me 😂

Finally emptied my TWSBI’s ink reservoir. That took months lol! I will fill it back up again with Kon Peki because I cannot get enough of that ink.

Reassembled the TWSBI Eco (with some difficulty) and put Pilot chiku-run 竹林 in it!
Getting the piston mechanism back in was hard.
And the nib wasn’t entirely positioned well on the section when I put it back, resulting in leakage.

Was at Lorjé fountain pen store in Utrecht, and had a nice chat with the owner. He’s very friendly.
There were some new inks from Shanghai Stationery, a Dutch brand. Looked very nice, I will come back for those.
He also informed me that he will get the small Pilot Iroshizuku bottles in all colors, which made me very happy.
An affordable Pilot pen is coming in September, looks a bit like the TWSBI Eco.
Cool visit, bought nothing (shockingly)

How bad does an 8+ year old Moleskine journal I had laying around handle fountain pens?
Pretty badly!
Maybe I’m posh but to me this is unusable.
The writing experience was also shit.
Maaike from the past only used ball pens.

My work notebook. Trying out a Clairefontaine for the first time, blank pages for this one. I also use my mechanical pencil in it for sketches etc so blank pages are handy.
For fountain pens I have mixed results with this paper so far. Sometimes the Lamy 2000 refuses to drop ink on the page, it seems to happen randomly idk.
The ink in the Lamy is from Caran D’Ache

Getting a pocket notebook + case that also holds pens was a good choice. The case is now my wallet as well, so I always have a notebook with me.
Just wrote a bit while sitting on the couch.
