The new CTO, started today, has decided that I am not necessary for his plans to introduce AI into the software development cycle.
I guess that’s me on the job market.

- SWE: DDD, TDD, architecture, design, OOP, backend or frontend

- Django, FastAPI, MySQL, Postgres, Ansible, Terraform and others
- In my last role I reduced delivery from 6-8 weeks to a weekly cadence with fewer bugs by introducing acceptance tests using Playwright, units tests with TDD, the Ports and Adaptors pattern to isolate and test business logic, a Kanban board to improve flow, and humanity into the daily standup. I mentored junior developers, started a weekly book club, and ran workshops to elevate the quality of the entire team.

Tomorrow our new CTO starts and his pitch was that his experiments with AI have increased his productivity and he can do the same for our team.
My expectation is that we’ll get more and bigger PRs that get approved with less attention leading to increased escaped defects, a general decrease in understanding of the code and increased thrashing.
I appreciate your very eloquently explanation of that in terms of work queues.

There might have been a short period, say 1970s to 2000, when the Colonial North briefly espoused a philosophy of equality for all. That idea is now firmly dead and buried.
Where we go from here will involve violence. It will definitely start from those states, but how it ends is unclear.

For me the burning eyes is because of clarity. This is what the West has always been: violent, exploitative, brutal. Bar a 30 years or so period after the second time they started a world war, when they tried to sell us that they were no longer that person, this has been their contribution to humanity.
Now, with the clarity of instant and widespread communications, we get to see the hidden details of their history. They brag about their history of exploring the planet, their culture, and their humanity to hide that it really means colonizing, genocide, and brutality. In this moment we are getting to see the mask come off. In small ways and large they are starting to care less about the mask and more about maintaining their brutal and exploitative hegemony.
