It's surprising that you'd have to create a new EFI partition. If you were using EFI boot blocks previously, that FS should already be in place somewhere. I'd be surprised at that getting stomped by an upgrade.
To check if @npub1d83…2cvu is onto it being a firmware config problem, you can try pulling up the boot menu, it's usually F12 (IIRC). If you can figure out what nda0 is according to the firmware, select that. Otherwise, there might be clues in there to where your EFI partition is.

The PDP-11 is (mostly) little endian, and pre-dates all of Intel's processors. Intel's endianness comes from the Datapoint 2200, which was bit serial, and the carry circuitry is simpler if you do things little-endian.
Honestly, I think the real answer is that big endian is easier to diagram if you come from a culture with a left-to-right writing system and a habit of putting zero on the left on graph axis.

... I got my compositor to run on #NetBSD. I fixed the kernel panic I was running into by deciding the change I had made to ioctl permissions constituted putting beans in my nose.
I then went back and added a GET_PCIINFO ioctl like what OpenBSD and DragonflyBSD use (but slightly different) and modded libdrm to match.
And it worked. It even let me fire up a terminal emulator window, which is further than I got last time. I'm going to clean up patches and hop on tech-kern later (but soon).

I used "crowdstrike" as a verb at work today, to paraphrase: "CI is broken because github crowdstruck us with a bad rust compiler update". AKA: usable any time an automatic update from a vendor breaks your infrastructure.
All I'm saying is, if they didn't want this neologism, they shouldn't have ruined my flight home from Italy.

Huh. I wrote my own Wayland terminal emulator to go with my compositor, and it has similar properties with regard to memory footprint and dependencies (it uses EGL directly instead of a toolkit, and has no extra dependencies). However, it implements only the barest minimum to display to the screen. No scrollback buffer or anything. Instead, I run tmux in it, and that gets the daemon process and multiple sessions features.
