I hear it occasionally & every time I do I have to wonder: What, exactly, do adherents of the "Let the child scream until they give up" school of parenting view as the desired outcome?
Do they have one that isn't just straight-up sadistic, á la what one couple once told me, "They have to learn that nobody comes to their aid"? (we weren't friends anymore after that)
I'm not bothered by the noise, I'm bothered by an impulse to intervene on the child's behalf that I can't follow.

No to most of those things - ye olde 2012 MBP I keep talking about has Intel hardware & the internet says that both the audio issue & the power problem I mentioned a few weeks ago also affect M1 & M2 generations & Apple apparently never did anything to fix any of those problems 🫤

Remember how I was pissy about my new old Macbook Pro 2019 having insufficient resources to run its own screensavers without blasting the fans & overloading the power supply?
Well, get this: Turns out MBP's from around this time onwards also don't have enough juice to handle audio playback. Just, you know, ordinary sound like alerts, nothing fancy.
If there's a few too many tabs open in your browser, sound starts glitching. Known core issue, no fix.

OK, I have this fairly large 3D print running on our Prusa XL & suddenly it keeps stopping with a "filament stuck" error - I can't see anything physically wrong & it resumes fine when I do the reload thing (although at least once it immediately stopped again), any ideas as to how I may resolve this without having to either start the entire print over, or clear the error 1000 more times...?

I'd like to comment on the common "AI is just a tool" thing: I'm a woodworker by training & that means a lot of machines - but almost every craftsperson knows how to do their job with hand tools, or "lesser" machines.
Similarly, a writer can write without a text editor - just as well, only slower.
If loss of a tool = loss of your skill & knowledge, then that tool isn't an asset, it's a liability. You're signing over your ability to do business to whoever sells & maintains that tool.

The idea of only paying an employee when they're "creating value", i.e. serving a customer, is nonsense & we need to take it out behind the tool shed & put it down. The employee creates value all day long, by keeping the doors open - if they don't there's no customers, because there's no place for them to go.
The employee pays for this with their time, which they can't use for anything else or get back.
Only a complete asshole thinks they don't deserve to be compensated for that.

This is at least partially related to the search dilemma: If it's easy to find anything, it's almost impossible to be found. That's also why recommendation engines have a right size of data set in which they provide valuable recommendations that you like & otherwise would have been unlikely to find - past a certain scale, results are shaved down by statistics from "surprisingly useful" to "self-sorting pile of the most generic & unsurprising content"...

Let me spare everyone the read: Superhuman AI is a fantasy at or above the level of teleporters & faster-than-light travel. As in, an ostensible technology which is indistinguishable from magic, since no currently known science has any conceivable path to making it real.

Also, the other main demographic I see appealing for mutual aid are trans and/or neurodivergent and/or cronically ill people who are either actively marginalized where they live & therefore cut off from "regular" aid sources, or have fallen through some sort of crack, also cutting them off from other, more readily available forms of support.
In many such cases, just asking for aid requires more courage than you or I will ever know.

Pretty funny, but the real brilliant bit is obviously the random groove thing 🤩 I'm not even sure you could emulate that with a regular digital track, like on a streaming service, but with vinyl it's fairly straight-forward & there were quite a few artists, comedy & otherwise, who played with having multiple different grooves on the same side of a disc - AFAIR Monty Python did one without telling anyone, just to take the piss 😂
