Industrial services have been the main aim thus far
- cleaning
- plumbing
- electricals
- health and safety
Hard asset connected. Essential as possible. Inflation proof. Ai proof
Things people just won’t stop paying for
Initially I was lookin close to where i live, but realised the deal flow is so small, that opened up to VIC, NSW, QLD
The key lesson: a vendor that is retiring is critical. 1) Seller finance 2) stays on as manager for a handover 3) keeps staff
Very early stages
My intention will then be to update the back-end with as much AI as possible, and keep it running
Long-term, and depending on how it goes, I like the idea of roll-ups, adjacent services, with an exit to a PE fund
But first steps is just one high quality, stable, cashflowing business

I’ve spent a week analysing small businesses in Australia to acquire
It’s quite incredible how quickly you can now learn
AI is an absolute game changer
What would have taken a team, investor, analyst, accountant, and lawyer, weeks and weeks
Can now be done in minutes
It’s like you have an on-demand research desk
Investor = decision maker
Broker = deal flow
AI = analyst layer
Not sure where this is going to take me, but as you will imagine, I have a preference for hard asset related companies, likely service based for the best margins and recurring customers
And yes, a retiring baby boomer makes an excellent vendor

The last six weeks have exposed many areas of my life that I didn’t realise needed work:

• operating capital and investment capital were blurred

Biggest lesson of this bear market:
When using Bitcoin as your primary means of value storage, the volatility to the downside is a risk to never forget, so if you’re ever considering large capex opportunities, such as a renovation, if, and only if, you feel wealthy enough in that moment of decision, you proceed, and you take all the money off the table to ringfence for the project, and manage a predictable cash flow

I know a guy running a TG group with technical analysis market commentary

Nowhere have they mentioned selling any Bitcoin

LTV = loan to value
Ie you put down 1 BTC @ 100,000$ usd value, you can get 50% LTV, so you get a 50,000$ usd loan
These debt deals had margin then liquidation levels
So as the price drops, the LTV goes 55%, 60%, 65% etc
Until the lender requires the borrower to either provide more Bitcoin, or start taking the original collateral

I am coming around the firm conclusion that the sharp sell off was almost entirely due to leverage in the system
Specifically those that took LTV 50% at 110k usd thinking it was going to 150k
The likes of Ledn “you don’t have to sell your Bitcoin”
As price flew down, margin calls meant a cascade of forced sellers
Now it’s happened, there is a firm bid from the same people that levered up
Who see Bitcoin at sub 70k as huge value

Downloaded an app called Pocketsmith to track expenses
What gets measured gets managed
Given the drawdown, it’s highlighted how insane it was that I wasn’t tracking this
Having one’s highest ever net wealth calc each week lured me into complacency
Having a clear grip on monthly costs will be a key tool for the future
And is obvious drawdown protection
Given you can calc future cash flows more accurately, and see when liquidity is needed
I am already a better version of myself
Have to get better again
