Lost my purple verification checkmark recently because @nprofile…m76u unfortunately phased out their NIP-05 mapping directory to focus purely on Cashu/Ecash. Zaps were still landing perfectly, but the missing badge was bugging me!
Dug into an old account and mapped my personal npub to an @nprofile…fhc5 address instead. Back to being verified, and zero downtime for my personal profile.

Bitcoin is indisputably the world’s premier Store of Value, but we are hitting a friction point in its evolution as a Medium of Exchange.
Technically, Bitcoin + Lightning is the superior payment rail: it’s faster, cheaper, and eliminates the "chargeback" risk that plagues legacy merchants. Yet, the ground reality remains: most merchants still only accept fiat, and those who do accept BTC often see it account for less than 1% of their revenue.
Why the gap?
In my opinion, the bottleneck isn't the tech—it's us. Most Bitcoiners are focused solely on "HODLing," effectively keeping the best medium of exchange locked in a vault. For Bitcoin to win the $32.9 Trillion retail market, we have to start using the plumbing we’ve built.
What's the solution?
Most of us still earn in fiat, which means the bridge to a Bitcoin standard starts with a deliberate habit. My recommendation for every Bitcoiner is simple: send a fixed amount of every paycheck directly to your on-chain wallet for long-term savings, but move the bulk of your "spendable" liquidity into your Lightning wallet for daily essentials like groceries.
Apps like @npub1krv…d3py are perfect for this—they allow you to seamlessly bridge your Euro accounts with Lightning rails, making it easy to off-ramp exactly what you need for daily costs while keeping the rest in your sovereign control.

Her argument regarding the ICC judges is a total red herring. First, Bitcoin already exists as a sovereign, non-permissioned settlement layer for anyone facing extra-territorial overreach.
Second, her narrative ignores the EU Blocking Statute, which specifically protects EU citizens and entities from exactly this kind of "decisions made on the other side of the pond."
The Digital Euro isn't about "sovereignty" for the individual—it's about the ECB trying to build its own permissioned bypass while ignoring the sovereign tools we already have. 🧱⚡️

Stopped by for a burger and nudged him to try taking Bitcoin this time. He already had a Speed Wallet set up, and I sent a Lightning payment from my @npub1kva…tkzv wallet.
Yeah, I know—still a lot of custodial "training wheels" in this setup, but we have to start somewhere. I wish I’d filmed it; that look in his eyes (and the sound of the app confirming the payment) was pure magic.

While Jack Dorsey’s firm is "reluctantly" pivoting toward stablecoins to facilitate real-world trade, it highlights exactly why tools like Numo Pay and @npub1krv…d3py are so vital. We don't need to force merchants to hold volatility if they aren't ready; we just need to give them the sovereign rails to settle in the currency they need to pay their bills.

Had some "spirited" discussions yesterday regarding stablecoins on #Bitcoin. It’s clear the tension between monetary purism and pragmatic adoption is at an all-time high.
As a consultant advising fintechs on payment rails, I see the ground reality every day: we are fighting for a $32.9 Trillion retail market, yet #BTC Map shows only ~20k merchants onboarded.
Pure BTC is the destination, but for the 99% of businesses facing 5% margins and strict compliance, stablecoins on Bitcoin rails (via Taproot Assets) are the essential bridge. We can’t win the world if we refuse to build the plumbing they can actually use today.

So you are telling me that you would actually advise business owners to only accept bitcoin from their customers (also those that don't know anything about it), pay all their suppliers in bitcoin, and more importantly NOT pay their taxes anymore. Because hey, Bitcoiners don't pay tax. And if you do you are an idiot. Amazing! What kind of bullshit logic is that? Yes, Bitcoin is the best form of money ever invented. But no one pays their taxes for fun, it is a legal obligation. You can not run a legit business without that. Not paying taxes is a criminal offence. Anyway, coming back to the main discussion point. I still haven't heard any valid argument from you why stablecoins are not acceptable, but e-cash and even side chains like Spark are.

So you are saying that you are able to pay with bitcoin at your local supermarket, order food at any restaurant, pay for everything when you are on holiday, etc. Who are you trying to fool? You now that it is complete BS what you are saying. Not even in countries with a high level of bitcoin like El Salvador every merchant accepts it. I would love to live in a world where I could do everything with Bitcoin. Fact is that it is simply NOT possible currently. Especially if you run a business. Taxes cannot be paid in Bitcoin. The world is still largely dependent on fiat. We might not like it, but it is a fact.

Funny compilation 😂. Personally I completely agree that there is nothing better than Bitcoin. Both as a store of value and as a medium of exchange. In practice I however notice that bitcoin is only still accepted by a very small number of merchants currently. And if you can't pay with bitcoin it is now often converted to fiat to enable day to payments. It has proven really difficult to convince merchants like supermarkets, gasoline stations, etc. to start accepting bitcoin. They simply don't understand, and if they slightly do, their conclusion is that bitcoin as an asset is too volatile. They want price stability. That is where stablecoins come in. With protocols like taproot assets these can be minted on the best blockchain which is Bitcoin. No need for Ethereum, Solana or any other 'shitcoin' blockchain.

I slightly disagree. Having stablecoins minted on Bitcoin via protocols like Taproot Assets or RGB, which are native to Bitcoin, will actually benefit the Bitcoin Network in both the short and long term. Most important reason is human psychology. The transition for any small business owner to start accepting stablecoin payments as an alternative to traditional card payments is way easier to achieve than having to start accepting bitcoin directly. The step from stablecoin payment acceptance to direct bitcoin payments acceptance is the logical next step. And even if they don't eventually start accepting direct bitcoin payments, they are using bitcoin as the settlement layer without even knowing it. It will therefore enable more and easier bitcoin acceptance by merchants, create more revenue for lightning channels and it's node runners, create more revenue for the miners, create more bitcoin awareness, and more adoption of bitcoin, etc. This will enable true Bitcoin businesses (including node runners) to grow, which in turns creates less dependency on fiat.

I know the mention of stablecoins usually triggers the "Bitcoin Only" alarm for many on Nostr, but hear me out. The beauty of Stablecoins as Taproot Assets over the Lightning Network is that they don't replace Bitcoin—they act as a bridge.
Imagine this workflow:
1️⃣ Your salary arrives in a EUR-pegged stablecoin wallet (fast, stable, and low-cost).
2️⃣ You pay for your daily groceries using that same Lightning wallet—instant settlement, no volatility during the checkout.
3️⃣ Every month, you automatically "stack sats" by sending a fixed amount of that EUR balance to a cold wallet acting as your true long-term savings.
My view is pragmatic: most people won't jump from fiat to 100% BTC overnight. Stablecoins on Lightning are the perfect transitional tool. They allow people to exit the traditional banking system *now* while gradually building their Bitcoin position.
If you want to go full Bitcoin immediately? I’m all for it. That's the beauty of the protocol—you choose your own path. But for the rest of the world, stable-Lightning is the Trojan horse for hyperbitcoinization. 🍊🚀

Woke up to some easy sats this morning! ☕️⚡️
Spent less than 30 minutes total across a few apps, walking to the gym and back, and stacked:
- Speed Wallet: 130 sats (quick game)
- Satsman: 21 sats
- ZBD: 5 sats (daily poll)
- sMiles: 5 sats (1 sat per 1,000 steps—taking out the trash & walking to the gym/back)
Total: 161 sats.
Now, here’s the reality check. As a consultant, my hourly fee is at a level where 30 minutes of work is worth exponentially more than these fractions of a cent. From a "time is money" perspective, this doesn't make any sense at all. 📈📉
On the other hand, the walk was for my health, and apps like Satsman are actually educational—so they serve a purpose beyond the payout. It’s about the habit and the "Nuts and Bolts" of testing the plumbing of the future.
But I have to ask: Is this actually worth the effort for a professional? Or is the friction of micro-earning still too high for most people?

Reflecting on one year of using Nostr... ⚡️
I first created my profile back in February 2025, but after a long hiatus, I’ve only recently dove back in. Now that I’m active again, one thing is crystal clear: Technically, Nostr is superior to any other social media platform out there.
However, we have a hurdle to clear. 🚧
Right now, most posts are still too technical for the average person. I truly believe we’ll only get the best out of this protocol when it becomes the go-to place for real life—sharing holidays, day-to-day experiences, family photos, and great articles. We need to use it with the same ease we use Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn. 📸🌍
My big hope for 2026? That businesses finally wake up to Nostr. It is, hands down, the best way to create authentic brand awareness without the "middleman" algorithms.
Let's keep building the "Social Layer" by just being ourselves. 🧱🍊

In Europe most merchants unfortunately don't understand bitcoin yet. I was able to orange pill one food truck owner recently nevertheless. There is still a lot of work to do however.

Just changed the background theme to Bitcoin Orange. Merchants can now easily accept bitcoin payments directly, either as a regular lightning payment or as @npub17fz…9yxv eCash. Cool feature is also that as a merchant you can set balance thresholds automatically triggering a withdrawal of funds to your self-custodial wallet. For European merchants this could also be set to their @npub1krv…d3py LN address.
