I believe most - if not all - "absurdist" art was just an artist making a point that society was not ready to hear.
It was easier to dismiss it as absurd silliness for the purpose of being absurd than to face the accurate allegations it made about where our society was going.
EDIT: I also believe some artists went along with this absurdist view obfuscating their message as a middle way between remaining silent versus being executed for speaking out.

Isn't the reply of the editor-in-chief a cop out? I acknowledge I don't know much about their typical processes, but it just feels gross.
They note that an automated tool that they ceded all their authority to without requiring any oversight or human check of it's decision is to blame. On top of that they claim that it's a mistake that someone else should rectify.
Automation allows *everyone* to dodge accountability for *everything*. The buck stops nowhere.

We need to not allow slippery semantics.
Human rights are different from citizen privileges. Both can exist: it is reasonable for citizens to receive some privileges that non-citizens may not be granted. But these are not human rights. Human rights are, by definition, for *humans*: no citizenship status required.
Reasonable people may disagree on just where the line between citizen privileges and human rights are, but we need to stop allowing leaders to blur these terms.

And what's the purpose of this? So their next generation of AI can advertise that it will play your games for you?
Let AI do your gaming, watch your favorite tv show and summarize it for you, and talk to your friends so you don't have to. Let AI take over all those burdensome activities of living and enjoying life.

And what the hell is up with their PR. Even if intentional, I'd expect Meta's official response to be something like "Oops, sorry, we'll fix that."
But their actual response: "The images shared do not violate our policies."
So they're saying that they are deliberately positing provocative images of underage girls to get the attention of adult men. That is literally the dictionary definition of child pornography, and Meta is distributing it intentionally.

Nice, but not really the same. Chanting / singing and honking horns just doesn't come anywhere near the level of acoustic snark that a bagpipe has.
Scottish bagpipes are easily the most "punk rock" of traditional instruments. Every note from a bagpipe screams "piss off."
