Surprise new pen day: visiting the local stationer for browing, I found out that Lamy made a new shade of green AL-Star: Pine!
I'm still waiting for a warm, deep, but not that dark green from them, but this is my favourite so far.

Things that help with tidying, a slowly growing thread:
1) Have receptables for trash and recycling at hand, as many as needed (e.g. I need one for paper and caradboard, one for plastics and metal, and one for everything else - theoretically also glass and electronics, but there's not much of that, so having those further away is OK)
1.5) Make sure there is room in them, and there is nothing stacked on top of them that keeps you from actually using them...

My father drove me home. I didn't take much with me, because I still need to get rid of more stuff here to make room.
Decided to start with towels - I had wanted to replace a few of my towels because they are poor quality and very thin, anyway. Also grabbed a PAPPIS box that was half-full with embroidery floss, and added a few bits and bobs on top.

Oh yay, the Queen Millennia DVDs have a Subtitle track that only translates the Japanese writing shown on screen, but not the dialogue! :D
(The dialogue subtitles are unfortunately completely different from the audio, obviously 2 independent translations without any kind of exchange.)

Sometimes I think about how words in different languages don't match 1:1. Today it's hat - Hut
English "the hat" = German "der Hut" (pronounced, roughly, like "hoot"), more or less.
The thing is, German doesn't use "Hut" as an umbrella term as much as English does "hat". "Eine Kappe" is not ein Hut, while "a cap" is a hat.
Ein Hut must have a brim all around, otherwise it's eine Mütze, not ein Hut.

Actually sat down and listed the fountain pens I have inked.
Caramel Sparkle and Sepia are for my BuJo (title and text respectively).
The second block is my "penbow", sort of rainbow colours. I like Candle Light a lot, but I'm not sold on it in this set. All the pens are Lamys Safari or Al-Star, with F nibs. I'm not sure if the orange looks bolder because the ink flows differently, or because the nib is different.
The rest is just what I happen to have inked.

So in the few hours between arriving home and bedtime, I put away the clean, dried dishes and clean, dried laundry, and watered my plants, and a liiiiiiitle bit of other tidying, and played Wandering Village for over an hour.
For after work tomorrow I've written down doing dishes - there isn't much, but I want to wash my water bottles more regularly.
And that's the only chore, and then I get to draw.

I came to the end of the ink in my BuJo fountain pen: I'd half-filled the converter from a sample of Octopus Fluids Barock Charleston to see what that looked like in writing rather than as a swatch. I like the colour, but I think I like Diamine Sepia better.
Fireside Snug is still in my orange pen.
I think I'm just gonna refill it with Pelikan Pelikan Brilliant Brown, because I have half a jar left and well, gotta use stuff up occasionally? Yeah.

It just feels fake to me, but then, I'm on the ace spectrum.
It seems particularly weird when it's the designated love interests only. I'd think someone who went from zero to "I want to have sex with that person" in a minute would have that reaction to more people, and it would usually not lead to anything.
It's baffling.

On a lighter note, a question about a romance trope: Is the "two people see each other for the first time and immediately think 'whoa, that one is hot'' and then they get together later" a trope that romance writers expect their readers have to suspend disbelief for, or is that how romance works for a significant portion of humanity?

I do like Ursula Vernon's style, going from funny to serious and whatnot.
These two work way better if you think of them as one doorstopper, I think.
I don't really want to read more books in the same setting, particularly if they have more paladins. Seeing being possessed and used as a tool by a god presented as something good just sends me into negative thought spirals about the evils of Christianity. (You know, queermisia, eugenics, genocide, all that)

I'm chasing a rainbow of 6 inks and matching pens!
Red, blue, green and violet ink are settled; orange needs to be lighter and yellow darker.
I think the orange, yellow, and blue pen are settled, and the violet one might be, too (it looks teal here because it's a bicolor coating).
The green pen is beautiful, but it's the only one in the bunch with a screwtop.
The red one is too pink.

Also two of my #FountainPens are in a state of "I tried to pull off only the nib but instead pulled out the entire feed, and when I tried to push that back in it got stuck and now isn't moving in either direction", which is kinda sad. One is a super-cheap one, but the other I've had for 20 years and am kinda attached to :(

#FountainPens inked right now. I tested violet inks, so there are several in here still, and the Parker pen was new and for testing, too. I haven't been using the one with Diamine Vibe mich, because that ink is one with a lot of sheen, which I don't like much for notetaking, which is most of the writing I do.

- Pelikan 4001 violet is somewhere in the middle hue-wise. Not entirely sure about how dark it is, but over all I think it's the best candidate for colour-coded notetaking. I like Athol Violet, partly because it's very close to the base colour of the shimmer ink Diamine Rainbow's End, but it's a bit too close to blue.

Did a quick comparison of violet #Ink I have samples of...
- Kaweco violet is reddish, dark, and desaturated, and I don't like it much.
- Lamy violet is... bright, reaching towards fuchsia and that's too much for me.
- Octopus Fluids Aubergine is the reddest in the rest, and on the dark side of medium
- Diamine Athol Violet is also medium-to-dark, but almost blue.
- Octopus Fluids Flieder (lilac) and Diamine Jacaranda are both lighter than the others, with Flieder more reddish than Jacaranda

#FountainPen #Ink test on dit grid A5 ringbook paper I want to use -- I just used the pens I have inked up.
- I had 5 Kaweco inks in the lineup, and the only one of those doesn't have ghosting (royal blue). Green and red are quite bad (though red is in a particularly wet writing pen), and violet and grey also show, with grey showing least)
- Two other inks that showed ghosting, though less than the red and green Kaweco inks, were Diamine Blue Velvet, and Octopus Moosgrün...

...A squirrel just "hid" a walnut in the corner of my window, about 2 metres from where I'm sitting. (The window frame was in the way so I only saw an eartip, but there were clacking noises and now there is a walnut.

Tangential real story: At the University of Cologne, in the 80s they cleared out a cellar and behind some shelves, they found a coal mine.
It's a 40m long, life-size model built in 1932 for the economics and social sciences faculty, and the equipment was sourced used from actual mines.
They just sorta forgot about it for a couple of decades.

I did finish the cartridge of Pelikan Aventurine ink I had in the Pelikan Ineo pen, and refilled it with Octopus Moosgrün (moss green).
Pelikan advertises their Edelstein inks claiming they have a special formula that makes writing extra-smooth. It might feel a bit different, but not much, or it might be my imagination, I'm not sure.
Colour-wise they are pretty close, but I prefer the Octopus ink. It is a little bit warmer, more saturated, and maybe darker.

I suspect it has to do with discouraging SEO spam.
I'm not sure if it matters any more, but domains passing on something... gosh, did they call it link juice? To the domains they linked to. Which led to people/bots signing up to big, old, trusted forums just to post links, not only hoping someone would click them, but to improve the target domain's google ranking.
Noreferrer links don't pass on link juice...

I wrote with the pen with deep green ink until it was empty. And when I went about cleaning it, I decided to empty the Write & Draw ink out of the cp1 with the EF nib. I just don't enjoy drawing with that, at least at the moment.

I dumped the Kölner Brückengrün ink on some paper and dabbed at it, not sure if I'll use the result for anything, but it's pretty.
The pen with the black ink and B nib I used until empty.
A new pen with an unusual nib arrived and I had to ink it for testing...

I like some Octopus Fluids ink, but the jars for their plain fountain pen ink, not so much.
The lids are hard plastic, and there's a silverish dish thing inserted loosely into them for a seal. Didn't even attempt to glue it on the lid, so of course it sticks to the glass instead and ugh.
But without it, the jar isn't watertight (I tested, laying a closed jar on its side on a tissue, and yes, it leaked a bit)

I'm fine with 20 years from publication for anything produced by a media conglomerate, but when it comes to single creators or small groups, I'm for lifelong creator's rights.
Thinking of an author ending up homeless late in life despite their work being everywhere because it gets reprinted and poorly adapted because it's popular and public domain... That doesn't sound like a desirable outcome
