Running a small or single user instance in the #Fediverse? Get connected to other instances by a relay!
I just adjusted my relay instance which now also finally supports #GoToSocial! Of course, it also supports Pleroma, snac, Mastodon, littlefedi, starling and many other ones!
With relays, your own posted content gets distributed to all connected instances, as well you get the content all other instances. Currently, mostly tech related instances are connected, focusing on #Linux, #Proxmox, #BSD / #FreeBSD, #IPv6 and many other things!

Interesting, uninteresting, or just plain boring… My #Proxmox cluster on #ARM64!
I took some time today to create a PVE test cluster on my outdated hardware in NYC and it's interesting, uninteresting, or better said just plain boring. And this is good!
It just works and (mostly) behaves just like you know and would assume. Everything is mostly the same (sure, some things on hw level might be a bit different when playing near hardware) and you want to make sure your hardware supports H flag.
Adapting to #aarch64 might be a good choice, even professional systems became cheaper. Keeping all automation, config and tools might make it even easier. For me it's now about integrating further arm64 support into #PegaProx and creating arm64 based artifacts!

Shifting from #Proxmox to #Sylve (on #FreeBSD + #bhyve) including #Ansible automation!
When talking about open-source virtualization platforms, Proxmox VE is probably one of the first solutions that comes to mind. It combines KVM virtual machines, LXC containers, storage, networking and clustering behind a convenient management interface.
But what if you want to build the same kind of environment on FreeBSD?

It would be great to have fully working and tested modules in Ansible Collections upstream. Please note, they're still WIP as things personal didn't bother me but should be made more human friendly like bytes vs Mb (memory, disk,..) and some other smaller things.

As people kept asking for the modules I developed for my @npub1av0…490d project, I just made them shiny and prepared them for pushing them upstream.
Making the switch easier for people coming from #Proxmox, it uses mostly the same syntax as the Proxmox modules to keep the interface similar. Next to this, they're built in an equal way with a shared authentication module util, to make sure new modules can directly use the same authentication lib.

as always, highly depends on your personal needs. I'm a huge Proxmox fan, but there're of course several different cool solutions. Next to #Proxmox, I also often use #incus [0] in personal labs but I'm also a huge fan of #XCPng with #Orechstra. #SuseHarvester 's [2] approach is also a great solution (similar to #Platform9) if you want to go into the modern world (in the end, they're also using KVM). If it's just single node, I really would also consider #bhyve on #FreeBSD (maybe even via #ClonOS / #cbsd).
