I'm compelled (speaking only of my school) by arguments that the $$ amount invested isn't really that much (tho would be somewhat complicated to divest bc of bundled funds). I think they [board, who along with cops are giving admin marching orders] just *hate* the idea of the students forcing them to.

Yeah, this is my starting premise. LA County alone, the trash must be visible from space. For a while US was shipping "recycling" away; now that China started refusing it, some is piling up & some is going to other countries. And I know that a good deal of clothing winds up shipped away & piling up in landfills on other continents.

Thanks. Yeah a little Googling turns up some landfills but I am wondering if, given the volume of garbage produced, if it all stays in California, or if some of it is sent away.
In earlier eras part of the answer was incineration but the last couple of those are (I believe) on target for being shuttered. One in Long Beach, other in Central Valley. SOOOO toxic.

Here's why I'm suggesting you take it out of the realm of body/genital shaming: it may or may not land on/insult the target. But it *definitely* reproduces a discourse where we're approving of big dicks & disapproving of small dicks or no dicks or non-normative dicks. Women, intersex people, trans people are catching strays from that, as are cis men with small dicks who aren't being, if you'll forgive me, assholes. It's not about the dick or lack thereof; it *is* about toxic masculinity.

Boosted some posts about how even if they hold onto power, Dems aren't willing to and don't have any meaningful plan to expand the court. This is true.
But also: even if they win in November, the radical right isn't going to let them take those offices without a fight. J6 was a dress rehearsal.
We already voted & got a relative best-case scenario in 2020, *and yet we're here now anyway* 👀

Normally I'm careful to scratch out license plates in vehicles I post, but in this case, someone clearly wants to be noticed. Also: is it just me, or should someone be the medical examiner, or have this display at home, but perhaps not both? (look closely)

I gotta go to bed but a full-circle comment first: yesterday saw two ravens snacking upon a squirrel that had had the misfortune to perish on the roadway, then both up in two palm trees doing something that I really thought was essentially flossing their beaks, getting the carrion off the outer beaks by vigorously raking them on the palm leaves. Maybe I should be trying leaves.

Maybe a more industrial zone? I think a lot (by no means all) of the gloves are from food service. I see bottles of piss here too, they're from Amazon drivers delivering toxic floss to people and pissing in bottles and leaving on the side of the road

Ugh, subway nail-cutting is maybe the thing I miss very least from NYC!
This is by no means the best photo in the roll but it does have placefulness going for it. But now I’m thinking about what’s litter and what’s just errant ground detritus. Does litter have to be thrown a la the Vancouver hand lettered sign?

As long as I can walk I'll just be staring at the ground (at litter, trying not to fall in holes, trying not to fall down generally). SoCal litter is less dense and less variegated, natch. I'll have my eye out for flossers.
