I felt so seen reading @npub1fdr…lvhs post on the US immigration. I moved here on a student visa, then OPT, then Green card. I am white man from an EU country, but even my path along this track has been tricky to navigate. It feels like the processes intentionally want you to fail. E.g. I keep a spreadsheet of every single entry/exit of US and every country visited.
"Just immigrate the right way" is the same as saying "just walk this tightrope over a chasm"

"Enshittification" by @npub1fdr…lvhs is a great read. It made me reflect on the phases of Google since I joined in 2012. I recognized each one. It made me proud to have participated in many pushbacks against the enshitification of the products I worked on and dogfooded.
Highly recommend!

there are a couple of layers to this. Generally, you should be able to trust a signature of an APK, and you can validate that on and off device. If a new APK is pushed with the correct signature, you might have a very difficult time distinguishing that from a legitimate staged roll out of a new version. Different signature APK will not install on a non compromised OS.
For checking if something is rare, you can check the checksum of an APK installed on a device or off the device.
