I finished reading @npub1faz…vc22 book The Blossoming of The Big Tree yesterday. It's a good book. The most powerful thing with it is that it gives you a picture of a working alternative to todays centralised governing system. It gives you the tools to imagine something other, something better.
It's also a bit scary in painting a future for the "global north" that I fear unless our clown show of governments get their shit together.
But regardless that, it's a book I recommend. You should read it.

Because they fucked with the weapon industry. The Israeli weapon industry at that. We've had similar "interesting" happenings here in Sweden surrounding (I think) Elbit and that was only people being unwilling to help them load their cargo on ships.
Call me paranoid but very influential forces seem to be on the side of the country selling the most advanced cyber weapons and hacking tools in the world. Who are they blackmailing?

It's #sci-fi #solarpunk and let's your fantasy explore a world were solarpanels are grown and everything is a bike.

I only know that atleast one battle tested Erlang system didn't use anything infront. Would sort of ruin the point of the lang too. There were talks about containerization but it was only to make it more self-contained and add a security layer than any securities regarding updates and hot-loading.
Load balancing is done with distributed processes, but ofc you can use another layer instead of doing it properly in you preferred BEAM lang. If you even need it.

So anyway, anyone up for selling their soul?
I need a couple more for the down payment on my new cottage. Prime placement just a skip and a jump from a wandering trail. Many potential future lost souls passing by, if you know what I mean. But the realtor is an all proper devil; no skimming on them souls.
No? Ah, well was a bit of a long shot. Maybe I should try on that bird site or what's it called, many gullible people there I've heard.

On the "own hardware" department. Maybe a collab with Fairphone would be a good option? They have ok hardware, missing some security modules I'm sure, but their biggest problem in my experience have been janky software.
Also, an ethical and secure device? Now that's some good marketing.
Just a though.
Have a great day.

So how do we force our "representatives" to pass a law that makes these kinds of initiatives illegal? If not, they'll just keep trying, becoming sneakier and sneakier until it's the kind of covert drivel we laugh at the US for doing.

I have a letto reader that I used a bit but I couldn't find drm free books to read on it so it mostly collects dust now.
I've also used my phone, but there I get distracted by other things before even being able to open the book app.
So I only read physical books now. They also smell, look and feel nicer. Not as practical though.

I'm looking for a #notebook recomendation as my current one is slowely running out of pages.
I want a notebook with 200-300 pages, soft cover, able to lay somewhat flat, in the B6/pocket-ish size and it needs to be #fountainpen friendly.
I would also like to try tomoe river paper since it's so highly praised and a coulple of ribons would be a bonus.
My current notebook is a Bindwerk Classic which I'm rather pleased with. But I want to see if there is something else even better out there.

That 4€ notebook was really (really!) bad but allowed me to practice and become more comfortable with writing as well as prove to myself that I could finish a notebook. After I'd finished it it felt like I'd passed some kind of test. The mind is a weird thing.

For me to overcome this it took a digital overdose and shutdown of all my digital tools, and fully commiting to pen and paper. A 4€ bullet journal, a borrowed fountain pen and a mechanical pen I had used in school, more precisely. Together with some curiosity to try this "bullet journaling system" I'd come across searching on the web, giving me full freedom to write everything in this book.

Given this I think my aversion to writing in books and quality notebooks comes from some kind of sense that I'd defile this "holy" object by doing so. Since I also at this point never before had finished a notebook I'd think that I would not give the book the proper "respect" by not finishing it. Sounds quite ridiculous now writing it out.
Maybe it's something similar with some people and fountain pens?

When it comes to books and quality notebooks I see books almost a bit like holy objects that should be cared for and protected. Writing in books is something I've only started with recently. Bound books double so. A great deal of craftsmanship has gone into a quality book both it's physical form and its content, and that is something worthy of respect.

I'm not entirely sure I understand it myself. My first use of a fountain pen was a Lamy Vista that I borrowed. So it was free except for the ink cartridges and given it's the same body as the Safari it teaches you how to use it by how the grip is designed. So my introduction to fountain pens was almost free and I'd seen them being used already by someone I knew (with really crappy handwriting); demystifying them.

I long had this notion of "this notebook is perfect, so to use it I must be perfect". I solved i by buying the cheapest usable notebook I could find and now I feel good enough to buy and use nicer notebooks. I still make misstakes ofc but I don't find it as detrimental.
I'm not familiar enough with hobonichi to know if there is a ultra cheap beginners version of it though.

Figured out that you can clean your inky fingers from filling #fountainpens by using a foot file or fine sandpaper while washing your hands. Not that far fetched since oil removal handwash has abrasives in it. But still took me a while. Very happy with not having inky fingers any more though.

The Traveler is picky with ink and the Pilot is smoother to write with, which makes me fall back to the Pilot for longer writing sessions. The Pilot is also a smaller "small" than the Traveler but as I've understood it thats more of a Japan vs Europe brand thing.
I'll take a look at the Faber Castell.
