What we really need is a rump of Labor MLAs with the intelligence and drive to be ministers (which rules out several of the current frontbench) supplemented by the most talented crossbench MLAs.

Experienced my first "taken aside for a more detailed inspection" at Adelaide Airport today.
Not sure what triggered it, though I suspect it may have been my continence pad. (Urinary incontinence secondary to hydrocephalus and benign prostatic hypertrophy FTW! 🙄)
Having to lower my pants for two not-especially-friendly security blokes is not my idea of fun.
A humiliating and unnecessarily degrading process. Do better, Adelaide Airport security!

Perhaps it's one or both of: (a) it's a 'non-classic' contest; or (b) the AEC's pre-election guess of who would be the last two candidates was wrong (I think they call these 'maverick' seats) and so their usual two-candidate preferred measures don't apply, with a subtle "we don't know what the f*** is going on" instead. 🤷‍♂️

My day so far:
Voted 9/10
Had a panic attack (first full-blown panic attack in almost a decade) 0/10
Correctly self-diagnosed panic attack as panic attack rather than heart attack 3/10
Walked into an Urgent Mental Health Care Centre and now know what it feels like to be a unit of production in the mental health care factory 2/10 (still better than presenting to emergency, which I can confidently predict would not have exceeded 1/10)
After an inauspicious start, successfully performed the role of docile body 3/10
Developed a migraine in the brightly lit clinic 1/10
Made it to the loo just before The Lower GI Distress Fairy arrived 2/10
Finally ended up speaking with a social worker, who organised a referral to a service that might actually provide me with the help I need 9/10
Retreated to darkened room at home with bucket at the ready for impending visit of The Nausea Fairy 2/10
It's been a wild ride - and the counting of votes hasn't even started!

Just received another Trumpet of Patriots SMS so I tried calling Harry Fong's mobile. Went straight to voicemail and I couldn't leave a message because his mailbox is full. (I can't imagine why!)
Then I tried calling his landline. Also went straight to voicemail, but I was able to leave a message (in which I politely asked him to stop sending me SMSs). Not sure what good it will do, though it was mildly cathartic.

At this point, I'm even questioning whether the Reps will sit next week and Additional Estimates hearings will happen as scheduled.
The only thing that makes me question my instincts is that there's usually a delay of at least two days between the election being announced and the writs being issued.
I think this weekend is too soon but next weekend is looking ever more likely.
